The Mac and cheese is the star of the show!!!
If you only get one thing, get the Mac and cheese. It seems to be made with a tofu-type of ricotta, but I could be wrong. It feels really substantial, and not greasy at all! The breading seems like the breading on nuggies. At first, I thought there was a chick’n patty on top. It’s a great feature. All the toppings complimented it wonderfully (we got jalapeño ranch). The entire takeaway box was packed with Mac. We easily got 4 servings out of it. Massive!
The tofu Reuben was good, but I am the kind of person who DOES enjoy plain tofu. If you’re expecting it to be marinated, you might want to skip this. I thought the sauce did some heavy lifting flavor-wise.
The pierogi were meh to me (the toppings were great! We got the Big Mac pierogi. Tasted just like a Big Mac!). The weak link here was the pierogi itself. Maybe I just got duds, because my husband enjoyed them. I thought they seemed stale, the dough had started to harden and dry out. Also, the potato innards seemed excessively emulsified. I’m glad to have tried an innovative menu item, but I don’t need to experience it again.
We also grabbed a pile of the candy from the counter, a box of apricot Kiffles (made by stehly’s) and a Tandy cake (also from stehly’s.) The Kiffles were excessively sweet. The Tandy cake needs to be kept refrigerated because the chocolate will soften at room temp. The cake is exactly as I remember Tandy cakes, but the almond butter is too bland. It needs...
Read moreQuick review is if you dont know how to buy vegan groceries and make a quick meal at home then thus is a place you can pay to at a basic level do that, otherwise its not worth the cost or blah taste..
Growing up in the LV, news of a 100% vegan cafe was very exciting because the options for vegans around are limited. When VegOut was first open , two times I went , the quality was great and felt worth paying for a delicious sandwich when I didn't have energy to make it myself. Since then I would never go back to pay for frozen store-bought vegan meat (it is very obvious you use frozen veg items). The sauces are not even original. I can make everything on her menu which is a downfall considering how much each meal costs, minus the chick'n wings but even those the quality completed changed and went down (id suggest trying Eden-A-Vegan Cafe in Scranton chicken wings and you'll taste the quality difference).
I appreciate what the owner is trying to do, appeal to the younger crowd , and give a fun menu but living in many cities around the US , the quality taste and price are poor . If i could give some constructive criticism, I'd say making more recipes that are homemade, your ideas , your originality on a plate and not 95% store-bought and put together like it was a last minute lacking creativity or energy type of meal - then that would draw a crowd and KEEP a crowd. It would be nice to see you succeed in a place that desperately needs...
Read moreWow. Where can I even begin, I have so many good things to say about this business. I love when everything on the menu is plant-based, especially when you’re in a pinch and don’t want to inquire about the nitty-gritty when it comes to ingredients.
We made a detour on a road trip from the Midwest passing through PA to come here, and it was really one of the highlights of the entire trip. When we arrived, we were discombobulated, but the food here rejuvenated our will and spirit. We ordered the Big Mac & Cheese, Buffalo Mac & Cheese, and Greek Salad on pita (was recommended to us by one of the employees, since they do not offer chicken gyro anymore). All of them were delicious, especially the Big Mac & Cheese! I would’ve taken pictures to show in this review, but we devoured them so fast! I also ordered their “Shake of the Week” — that week it was the Marshmallow Oatmeal Cookie, and it tasted heavenly!
And WOW! Everyone here that works here is so friendly. Each time that we went, to & coming from. We will definitely be coming back, would even drive the hour and thirty minutes to deliberately come here if we had the time....
