Enzo's appears to be suffering from the same staff issues that currently plagues all restaurants. Spouse's salad was completely eaten before we received our drinks, which was 20 minutes after we were seated at our reservation time. Our waitress appeared to be covering 1/2 of the restaurant's tables and basically only took orders, input them, and sporadically checked on her multiple tables. Management appeared to monitor tables to determine which entrees to cue up from the kitchen and the kitchen staff delivered the meals. Though our meals were quite lovely on the plate, and spouse's meal of prawns and scallops were delicious, the sea bass type fish from the nightly specials was dry and not-so-special. I opted to make the best of it as there was no telling how long it would take to notify anyone and get another plated. As we were nearly finished, spouse informed manager of poor fish preparation when asked how the meal was (but didn't mention the two small bones, one which was swallowed and stuck in my throat; thankfully I was able to manipulate it out, but it was rather unsettling). At 8:00 we decided to get creme brulee for dessert but when 8:10 came and went and we still sat staring at our uncollected dinner plates with no sign of our waitress (or our dinner check) we decided we didn't have another 20-30 minutes to dedicate to getting dessert. Around 8:15 we were presented with a complimentary slice of cheesecake for the fish mishap but it did not erase the poor experience of the evening. Though we understand that everyone is short staffed these days and pre -"pandemic" service cannot be reasonably expected, it is not however unreasonable to expect better from a higher price-point establishment like Enzo's. Perhaps limiting tables to a manageable amount per server would provide patrons with the experience they have come to know. I would have preferred to have been turned away due to limited seating appropriate for staffing and spared a disappointing, and expensive,...
Read moreTerrible experience. I've never felt so put down in my entire life. Mostly I'm sad for a good friend of mine that was SO excited to go here. She had been once before on a date and organized a special ladies' night to show us how amazing the food was. However, we had a very rude waitress that had no interest in talking to us. We sat for an hour without a food order put in, and only a couple of us had drinks in front of us. The plan was to enjoy wine and each get a dish, but when it came time to order wine she looked at our IDs and left quietly. A couple minutes later a gentleman came up the stairs and stated he needed to double check some of our IDs as they looked "suspicious." We are all from different states because we attend graduate school in Billings, so I understand perhaps not everyone is familiar with this. He left and came back to let us know they were unacceptable because they "looked funny" to whomever he had consulted with. I am from Minnesota but have lived in Billings since last June and have never had such a rude/difficult interaction regarding my license. It is absolutely in the restaurant's best interest to verify drinking age, but in my nearly 28 years of life I have never been talked to in such a condescending manner. We were offered no explanation as to why our IDs were invalid and I was told repeatedly that they "don't look right." Both the waitress and manager had absolutely no tact in dealing with the situation. They treated us like young, dumb criminals that didn't belong in such a nice restaurant. If you are an establishment that is going to serve alcohol, familiarize yourself with other states' drivers licenses. And NEVER belittle a customer, no matter what the situation is. Completely unacceptable and I will never spend a dime here...
Read moreFull dusclosure? This was the second visit to Enzo's in a month. That said, arguably Billings, MT best eatery at staggering cost for the middle income family. Daily specials run 45$ to 60$ per plate and while the repast is sometimes excellent to the taste buds, the shock is felt elsewhere in the wallet. Conclusion? This is a special occasion emporium for that singled out, personal, holiday event or business gathering relegated for company expense. Their kitchen is not without issues. The affordable pizza offerings were unavailable the eve we tested Enzo's, as the oven was non functionial. The positives are a waitstaff which is above the pale in terms of interactive, courteous and accomodating The chef partially delivered on execution: the night we visited the halibut was absolutely perfect and the rack of lamb delicious although a bit overcooked for the medium rare grade expected. However, the food presentation/plating was sloppy; despite the asparagus (thicker than its younger cousins) being properly done al dente; the mashed potatoes were barely warm and the risotto sadly amateurish. The salad du jour offered a reprieve to other accoutrement being a toss of healthy fruit, greens, seeds and candied nuts in a light vinegarette. Dessert was a rich decadent chocolate cake with caramel infused sauce. All courses were shared for multiple feedback. Last, the ambiance and decor is in dire need of an update from it just past the last millenium decor. The booth seating sinks well below table height and we had to be reseated for comfort. Attempts to dress up the enviorns were oil paintings positioned above the tables offered at app. 4500 $ The final verdict? Hit or miss and hence a midland star rating...
