We have been here twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. First the positive things about this restaurant. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. The food has the potential to be absolutely delicious and they seem to have a good basic quality of their raw materials. When we went for dinner I had the duck and it was very good. The skin was crispy and flavorful and the duck was cooked very well and not oily or greasy at all with very good flavor. The bacon I had for breakfadt was thick and delicious. The very good coffee was served in nice big mugs which were refilled consistently. Now the things that led me to give them a 2 star rating. 1.)When we went for dinner they ran out of soup by 6. 2.)My husband's chicken was overcooked, dry and tough. 3.) When we went for breakfast I went with my father who has hearing aids. It's difficult for him to hear in very noisy environments and so I requested a table either in one of their booths or one of their Tables by the wall out of the center of the restaurant. Instead we were seated smack dab in the center of the restaurant; probably one of their noisiest tables! The tables I had requested had four empty for our entire visit. 4.) When we went for dinner we waited 45 minutes for our food. When we went for breakfast we waited 35 minutes for our food and when it finally came it was cold. My omelet would have been delicious had it been warm and my toast would have been very good as well had it not been completely cold and hard as a rock by the time it arrived. My dad said the same of his sausage and gravy with biscuits; that it would have been excellent had it been at least warm. 5.) During breakfast our server never returned to ask us how our meal was. I suspect she may have heard complaints of the meals being cold throughout the morning and was not anxious to hear the same complaint again. However after we were done and had already paid our check someone else did stop and ask how are meals were and we voiced our concerns.
I place blame for most of these negative things squarely on the kitchen. Either they're inexperienced or have just not found their groove yet. Maybe they're just understaffed. I hope that they can figure out how to correct the issues because I believe this restaurant could be very good if they can get some of these problems corrected consistently. Otherwise I'm afraid people will not continue to give them...
Read moreI have always loved Sophie’s and never had an issue, today was absolutely unacceptable, my 6 month pregnant friend and I were trying to wait out of the way of the door, we were standing in a small hallway by the host stand when a blonde employee with tattoos on her neck came over and yelled at us to move away from the aisle we were standing in, she continues to raise her voice and very very rudly demands us to stand against the wall, there was easily 30 people waiting in this small area and we had not been in the building for 2 minutes before she came up to us. We moved to the only spot open infront of the door as I said to my friend this is kinda the only other spot open she overheard me and again started screaming at us that we made the tables feel awkward when we wait by them and needed to get out of the way at this point I had enough and let the host know we were leaving because of how rude she was the lady again screamed over me and said “OH NOW THEY’RE LEAVING” I’m not sure why she handled this the way she did we had no problem moving but the way she went about the entire situation was both embarrassing and uncomfortable for us. This happened infront of the other 30 people waiting and I could see how uncomfortable this made them as well.. My friend and I come to Sophie’s about 2-3 times a month and undoubtedly will probably never return over this lady’s behavior. We went to the local and had a...
