Unsafe Food!!!! BEWARE of “Italian Delight’s” unsafe to consume Sicilian Pizza. It may contain undercooked/unsafe pizza dough like mine did.To give a little background, I eat a lot of pizza (4-5 times per week) and have tasted pizza from many restaurants. I understand how they are made and how they should taste when cooked properly. It is Father’s Day so I thought it would be nice to go out and get some Rita’s Italian Ice for the family and bring home some pizza to eat after. I chose Italian Delight because it was right next to Rita's in Birdsboro (which was a bit further than the other Rita’s but it had the flavor ice my wife likes) and the reviews online seemed to indicate the food and service was better than average, so I figured I would give it a shot. I order a Sicilian pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese and a plain slice of pizza to enjoy with my son while we wait for the Sicilian to cook. The reheated slice appeared fine but the dough seemed slightly undercooked but not enough to complain or be concerned. After about 20-25 minutes the pizza was “finished” cooking and we paid and took it home to eat. My wife had a corner slice (due to her love of the crust part of the pizza) and took a bite first. She immediately asked if I had started eating the pizza and asked if I could take a look because she said the texture of the dough seemed off. After I took a look at her slice and the rest of the pizza I quickly realized the dough was ¾ raw/undercooked for about 80 percent of the pizza. Understanding the risks associated with eating undercooked dough and the unpleasantness of the texture, I decided to call Italian Delight and let them know my experience and to see what could be done to make it right.I explained everything to the first girl that answered the phone only to be put on hold to re-explain the issue to another person (maybe the manager). I explained the state of the pizza I received and that I would like a credit for the next time I would be able to make it down there (as I explained it was already close to 8pm and I had to get my two young kids to bed and help out my wife with our newborn) when I had gotten home with the pizza and going back out would have been even more inconvenient then having to find something else to eat around the house after wasting 40 minutes driving roundtrip for food that was inedible and unsafe to eat). She stated that my options were to bring back the pizza to receive a refund, have them finish cooking the pizza (shocked this was even suggested), or have a new pizza cooked for a replacement. In any case, (She explained)I would need to bring back the pizza as that would allow the cooks to understand what they did wrong in order to learn from it and not that they didn't believe me. I explained that I am not sure what they can learn from an example of an undercooked pizza except that they need to prebake the dough longer! … Ok fine. I then asked, “Since this will add to my inconvenience and wasting my time just to provide a learning experience to the cooks at the expense of my “the customer’s” experience. I would like my money back and a replacement pizza to make it right. She said she would have to call the owners to see if that would be OK (I guess they don't empower their staff and onsite managers freedom to handle things like unsafe food and customer service). After another wait on the phone holding, she got back on the phone and said they can't do anything other than what was stated previously. I said “Fine, I'll be back shortly with the undercooked pizza to get my money back!”. I got my money back and will never go there again. I can’t believe that some business owners treat their customers this way and allow for unsafe food to be sold. I hope after reading this they get...
Read moreMy children and I decided to stop in for dinner and had the most outrageous and absurd experience that in the end when it comes down to it was an attempt at them to try to con and steal from customers... aka the community members they serve and so desperately care about apparently. My 6 year old son ordered the Childrens Spaghetti and meatball, he even told the waitress and point to the small section on the menu labeled kids menu. 5 minutes later the waitress brings out a small house salad.. ok cool. a few more minutes pass and the waitress brings out a massive plate of Spaghetti. I joking ask and say wow... this is a kids portion? in which she smiled said something quickly and ran away. When the bill comes I noticed the Spaghetti was $15 and not $5.95 like the menu stated... (and lets be honest 6 bucks is already more then an 100% mark up for a 90 cent box of noodles... less for a business) when asked she gets an attitude and said she will be right back. out comes the owner and manager and before she even gets to the table I could already see she was going to be difficult and was predetermined to be unprofessional. she ask whats wrong with the check and i stated that we ordered a child's menu order not an adult. her first response is... then why did you accept the house salad that was giving to you... it doesn't come with a kids menu (like we were aware and as I stated to her many establishments offer house and side salads on children menus) and 6 year olds don't eat or order salads with a smirk... they also don't eat and order a 10lb plate or pasta either lady. I tried to politely say that unfortunately this comes down to the server making an error, in which she replied she was confused and didnt ask because they don't judge there. no... but some simple context clues is obvious... a child pointed to the kids menu and said what he wanted, i then asked when the food was brought out... obviously it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure it out. after a few words she left and said shell fix it. When the new bill came out the bill was changed to the kids menu but now they added the house salad and charged me for two extra meatballs that doesnt come with the kids menu which ended up being almost the exact same price. so if the sub par food doesn't turn your stomach, the mold and water marks and damage all over the ceiling by the tvs, the left over crust on the silverware or the extreme wait times just to get a wrong order and have to wait another hour doesn't get to you.... maybe the extreme lack of customer service and disrespect towards customers from the owner will prevent you from eating here... which you should avoid at all cost... heck your better off with a hot dog from turkey hill. we were then asked to never come back... ahhh...
Read moreWe placed a DoorDash order for lunch and when our pizzas arrived, the boxes were completely wet/steamed and folding in half from being in the delivery bag, essentially creating a pizza soup mess that wasn’t even edible. We knew it was a delivery issue and not a restaurant issue, but we called to let them know and to tell them we’d be placing a replacement order. For the second order I asked that they put each pizza in it’s own individual sturdier, medium sized pizza box, to ensure we didn’t have the same issue again. They said it wouldn’t be a problem, however when it arrived, we saw that they squeezed 2 12” personal pizzas into one medium box, so they were squished and a mess once again. When we called and asked why they put them in the same box, we were told that they would have had to “charge us for a second box” - WHAT?! (Since when does a pizza place charge for a pizza box?!) We asked if they could just credit us back for this order (a whopping $30) since we order from them often, and this second issue was caused by them packaging it incorrectly. One woman we spoke with offered a partial credit, and then a second woman got on the phone and said they weren’t giving us a credit at all.
After spending more than 20 minutes on the phone both times, and having to step out of work meetings for a delivery issue, we felt the least they could do was offer a partial credit to loyal customers for the inconvenience. When they refused, we stopped wasting any more time with it. My husband and I, as well as most of my coworkers, have been long time customers, but after the bad service today, we’ll be taking our business to one of the many other pizza places...
