Edit: I went back today to explain the situation and ask for a refund for the full beers taken from me. Bobby was so nice and incredibly helpful, I’d like to reiterate that the bartending staff here can be wonderful, but a few of them need to learn that yelling at people doesn’t make you good at your job. Really thankful for him today for listening and understanding, I hope y’all are able to fix the venue and alcohol wristbands more smoothly and get staff that is all as kind as Bobby is. Thank you again for taking the time to listen and help me today
I love Avondale brewing and their brew options, but tonight at the Ross Lynch concert me and my friend group showed up about an hour after show start due to work, they did not scan our tickets, they did check our ID’s at the gate and they said we were good to go in. We went to the bar and ordered drinks, we’re ID’d and went to enjoy the show. About halfway through the main set, we went back to get another beer, and on our way back to our spot was stopped by “the boss” who snatched our beers out of our hands and immediately started yelling at us. I understand that they’re our underage people running around with alcohol, but I’m 26 and had an ID to prove it. If everyone drinking is required to have wristbands at the show then wristbands should be available throughout the entire show with an appropriate ID. This girl would not even let us ask how to get one as we tried to go ask our bartender who had ID’d us and given us drinks where to get wristbands at but she wouldn’t let us ask them either. I understand that people have jobs to do, but I don’t think the way she handled the situation was in her job description. The bartenders were nice, and I apologize if we caused the bartenders any trouble, but with proper ID (which I had) I should have been able to finish my $18 beers. If bartenders are checking ID’s they should be able to hand out wristbands, no one should ever yell at a human being like that, it was unnecessary for even an...

I won't tell you all about it: contact Avondale and take a brew tour. I have never been on a tour that was so rich with history; it's really quite impressive. After the tour, you will know the history that went down in the building, the story behind each of the brew's monikers, and you will understand the neighborhood's past and future.
When I learned I would be traveling to Birmingham, I contacted two breweries to inquire about a brew tour. One gave me a machine-esque automated response. The other reply was from Taylor over at Avondale: prompt, communicative, and attentive. This was just the first of dedicated staff to accommodate me. When I arrived for the tour appointment, I was the only one scheduled, but Ethan still took time to get over to the brewery and show me around. He is really passionate about the history and the brewery, and is a terrific tour guide.
The bar itself is cozy and warm, and shares the space with a portion of the brewery. They have a newly renovated banquet area upstairs, and there's also huge outdoor area for events and bands, with another bar to cater to such occasions.
They have a great selection of beer. I am partial to porters and stouts, and their Vanillaphant Porter was a nice treat. Thanks to Brock the bartender, I was also able to experience their more rare Brett Saison, which was a tart delight.
The locals were also great! Avondale doesn't serve food, but you can order in food. I was hanging out with a group, and one of the women walked over to a place called Saws and bought everyone a feast of yummy BBQ. It was so nice and contributed to my good time and memory.
I obviously had a blast, and I may go back to Birmingham, just to visit...
Read moreMy husband and I traveled over 700 miles to attend a concert this weekend. The outdoor venue was beautiful and located in an up and coming town. I require ADA seating, and it shouldn't have been as hard as it was to obtain. I emailed the venue about questions I had regarding obtaining ADA seating. It took way more effort on my part than it should have to get answers from the venue. I was very disappointed in the lack of communication and delayed response times from the venue. The day of the event, we had a specific door to enter, only for those with ADA passes. I really appreciated the way this was set up so that I wasn't trampled by others who were waiting to enter via the general admission entrance. Halfway through the event, we were all asked to vacate the premises due to incliment weather. The weather passed, and the venue posted online that they would be opening again. However, security let everyone through the ADA entrance and even into the ADA seating, regardless if they did or did not have the ADA pass/ wristband. I'm extremely frustrated as it took lots of work on my end to continuously reach out to the venue for a response and to obtain the ADA passes. In addition, after reentering the venue, we lost our seats to people who didn't have ADA passes and made their way into the ADA section. I'm extremely disappointed with how everything was handled...
