Bottom Line - A great value for money restaurant that flawlessly delivers on your expectations of a classic American Roadside Hot Dog Joint.
Service: 5/5 While no one waits on the tables, the staff is friendly and welcoming and gets the food out hot and promptly.
Personality: 5/5 The decor is a blend of local history and 50's (ish) memorabilia and thankfully feels natural and lot mass produced. This place definitely has its own identity, which makes the experience more significant. Instead of TRYING to be cool it just IS a classic.
Quality: 5/5 The food is great. I had the Maxwell Street Special (hint it's a big meal) and my date had a Chili Dog. We also ordered the combo basket which had onion rings (seasoned and crunchy) corn bites (don't put anything else on them, they are perfect solo) and the fried mushrooms (the combo basket could do without those and a few more onion rings and corn bites). The seasoning on everything is great, flavors are balanced nicely, and there usually isn't a need to add anything except a little extra salt to the fries.
Recommendation: 5/5. Take the family, take friends, take your dogs (nice outdoor seating area) it's worth the trip, and the next,...
Read moreJimmy’s is under new ownership!!! We have been going to Jimmy’s for years every time we are in Bisbee. It WAS one of our favorites. Well, we ate lunch there yesterday and it was terrible! The hot dogs are flavorless and half the size they used to be - the dog is lost in the bun and the topping of my Chicago style dog were flavorless, too. When we ordered our meals, I noticed some limp fries lying under a heat lamp on the counter and asked that fresh fries be dropped in the fryer. When they arrived, my server told me these were fresh. They were not! The fries are not fried! They arrived limp and cold - I suspect they are microwaved. And the unusual selection of crème sodas and other beverages are gone. Hours later I learned that Jimmy’s had been sold. The place looks the same but the food is absolutely awful now. Avoid Jimmy’s! I’m so sad what happened...
Read moreIt used to be one of the highlights of my trips back home to Bisbee to stop by and grab a burger. No joke, it was one of my all time favorite burgers. But, this last time, I was sooo disappointed. I could tell that they had swapped their old fresh grilled burger for a (microwaved?) pre-cooked one. I could barely finish it. The others in my group got hot dogs and chili dogs, but they were all just kind of meh. The spark seemed to be gone. I brought my fiance and had talked it up for so long and she didn't understand what the hype had been about.
Someone told me they had changed owners from the previous ones, not sure how true that is. I understand inflation has been pretty mean so I'm sure there's a reason for changing the formula. Just throwing it out there that I could really taste the difference and I don't know that I...
