Tried this place for the first time last night. Our party had the ribs, sausage, baked beans, cole slaw, and potato salad. Everything was fantastic.
Ribs were well seasoned, very very meaty, and had a good smoke ring and bark; great flavor and a tad on the spicy side. The sausage really stood out to me and was fantastic, and paired well with their spicy mustard; flavors were awesome and both were really quite spicy. Baked beans were good, but admittedly a bit on the boring side; where some places might have chunks of smoked pork belly and jalapenos, this was straight beans. Still had good flavor though. The cole slaw was an average good slaw, and the potato salad was pretty standard as well (though it's worth noting I did find it was good salad, and I"m pretty picky about my potato salad).
It's worth noting that some things were definitely on the spicy side. I thought it was great, but a few in our group had more "delicate palettes" and kept commenting on the level of heat.
I wouldn't go so far as to say they have the best bbq within a few states of here (I can name a couple places in SLC with better/comparable food) but considering the size of Blackfoot, this food is unmatched in the area.
Overall, everyone in our party of 5 was very pleased with the food, and we'll definitely be going back. Also note that we live 25 min away, and we intend to make the drive again just for the food.
UPDATE 2 YEARS LATER:
Since our first visit, we've tried to come every month or two for the last couple years. The food is always consistently amazing. The hush puppies are great, and I usually get their brisket and ribs. I've noticed that a lot of my friends and family don't care for the level of black pepper on the ribs. Personally, I love pepper, so I really enjoy them, but it might be a bit too peppery for many, based on what I've seen. Overall, fantastic food. Get here early, because like any other bbq joint, once they're out of meat for the day, they're out. You can't just hurry into the back and smoke some meat overnight in time for the next round of...
Read moreThis place is so close to being a really good bbq place, but a total let down. I got the ribs and spicy sausage and my wife got the brisket. The ribs were cooked perfectly fall off the bone, but they didn't have any bbq sauce on them. there was sauce on the table but who wants cold sauce on their ribs, disappointing.
The coleslaw and mac and cheese where good but the meal came with two plan old store bought slices of white bread, little weird. They could have toasted it with some garlic butter and it would have been understandable.
my wife's brisket was good best she ever had but only came two slices and wasn't really much for the price of the one meat lunch.
also not to be picky but the music was like 70s elavator jazz that was up to loud for the environment. I normally wouldn't mention something like this but it was so distracting.
wouldn't recomend and probably won't be back. which is sad because it is hard to find any good bbq...
Read moreNot a bad stop for BBQ. It was pretty average priced for barbeque, the food came pretty fast, and overall I was satisfied. For sides I had fries and baked beans. The fries were excellent. The beans were average. They taste more like something made commercially than an in house BBQ bean. The portion was generous enough though. For meat I had hotlinks and brisket. The hotlinks we're good and spicy enough for a small bite. I generally like things more spicy than they were, but my wife who doesn't handle spicy well would have been at her limit. So overall it's probably at a good happy medium. The smoke and seasoning on the brisket was again a little weak for my liking, but the cooking was on point. They were absolutely perfect as far as texture and tenderness goes. I would definitely go here again. Overall there are better Bbq places around, that's why I only give it 4 stars. However it definitely...
