I very much dislike everything about this place. The advertised menu for the fish fry was not what they offered. Tables and chairs were so packed in it was hard to get around. In the event of a fire, it would be a death trap. I'm sure the health dept would agree. The atmosphere is dingy and cluttered. The bathroom is small, poorly pieced together, and has difficult to manage saloon doors on the stalls. It's a popular place but I can't figure out why. The food is mediocre at best. Portions are extra small. Don't ever get the seasoned fries unless you like your fries buried in what appears to be a thick coating of Lawry's Seasoned Salt. They had piped in music, which would have been fine if they had any decent speakers, which they did not. The one good thing I'll say is that although our waiter was very new and had a lot yet to learn, he was very sweet, and handsome, and tried very hard to make up for all the deficits. We gave him a 25% tip. None of this was his fault and he worked extra hard to make up for all the problems. Everything about this place screams to me that the owners just don't seem to give a damn. Many of my complaints could be easily fixed, and for little money. They certainly do a good enough business, (again, I don't know why), to pay for some upgrades that would make a world of difference. Perhaps they have a good base of loyal regulars. Here's an idea, invite the regulars to come in and pitch in, to do some minor beautification work in exchange for a gift card for free food and drink. It's a win win. I would love to go try it again after some much needed improvements are made. Anyone have Gordon Ramsey's...
Read moreI decided to visit their bar after seeing their impressive St Patrick's Day food menu they were offering/advertising. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to its promise. There was a problem with every food item we ordered. The first red flag should have been a signal to leave immediately; hostess and servers were wearing face masks, bartenders and people working in the back we're not. I saw a couple employees from the back room walk onto the floor for a moment and they did not have masks on. Should have gone with my first Instincts. The hand carved corned beef they bragged about was tough and fatty. Difficult to chew. I heard a gentleman behind me also complaining about the fat, so I know just wasn't me. I should have sent it back. Potatoes on top of the shepherd's pie had a butane gas flavor. Maybe they browned it with a blowtorch? I have no clue. I pushed the potatoes aside and ate the filling which tasted fine. The Irish stew was off to a good start but ended poorly when I bit into something crunchy. Something crunchy inside a stew? I don't think so. Luckily, we were just about done eating anyway, because at that point I lost my appetite. Just noticed a few days ago they're looking for line cooks. The dots are connecting. On the other hand, I do like the vintage vibe of the bar. The atmosphere is decent. The hostess and waitress were friendly, but the terrible food and lack of covid-care will not...
Read moreGot here on a Saturday night at about 7 pm. Place was very busy. It was a sit yourself down place. Very few empty tables. We grabbed one of the few that was available however we had to clear some plates off. Waitress came to hand us menus but I had to ask her to clean the table. She did so and we thanked her. Our waiter came to get a drink order. We both ordered soft drinks. Decided on an appetizer and ordered it and our meal. Both ordered burgers with fries. Drinks came. Then the burgers and the waiter says is there anything else and I told him we never got the appetizer. He went and checked and realized he did not put the order in for it even though he took our dinner order at the same time! He asked if we still wanted it but we said no. Burgers were good. Nice and hot. Fries were coated but they were okay. It is not indicated on the menu what comes with the burgers. You are asked if you want fries with it but are not told it is an additional cost. $32 for two burgers with fries and two soft drinks. We had to ask for silverware and extra napkins. A bit steep. Service at surrounding tables was just a below par as ours was. Food was good, service,...
