Recently moved into the area. Went to Roast House in Blackstone on 4 different occasions, with 5 different people. Had the same waitress 3 of the 4 times. 4 of those 5 guests of mine said they wish not to eat there again. The 5th would eat just about anything, anywhere. My most recent visit, will also be my last visit.
Same waitress, as before, even when the place was empty, was painfully slow. Same as before. She acted as if she didn't care whatsoever about her customers, let alone her job performance, same as the pervious two times she waited in me and my guests.
When she did get around to "serving" our pre-meal beverages, I immediately pointed out an issue. Once again she acted as if she could not have cared any less. Almost reluctantly, she gave a half hearted effort to rectify the issue. And, as I later found out, told a "fib" as to what had happened. Of note, she never did clear the offensive item from the table. She just left it there.
As for the meal itself, both my guest and I ordered the same meal. What was suppose to be a "Tuna Melt Sandwich" turned out to be nothing more that 2 pieces of toast, with a small scoop of what seemed liked, anything but fresh tuna fish. We would have been better off eating a week old tightly wrapped $ 4 sandwich from a gas station. We finished the "meal" I paid the bill, ( note for witch I was still charged for the "offensive" item and for some reason I still "tipped" this so called "Waitress", and we left.
My tip to her rally should have been. "Find a new line of work or job, clearly you do not want to be here doing this"
A few hours later that evening, after getting physically sick " I returned to the Roast House to alert the hostess, who I later discovered was one in the same, the "Owner" of this establishment. I related my experience earlier in the day, as to what I wanted to let her know might indeed be a potential public health issue with one of the product I was served. Her response, "That was NOT POSSIBLE" and she also contradicted what her very own waitress had told me. From that point she was done talking with me.
Then as I turned to walk out, she, as an after thought, as me for my name and phone number.
The next day, I went to the doctors. He confirmed my issue.
I called the "Owner" and told her again, what had happened. She told me she would call me back. Still to this day, I have heard NOTHING at all from her.
My review,................. HORRIBLE ! Totally UNPROFESSIONAL
A waitress who clearly does not care at all for her job or customers. An owner, who when alerted to what might have been a potential public health issue, also did not care,
FOOD that was HORRIBLE, Customer SERIVICE that was even worse. Not even worthy of the One Star I gave it.
Totally embarrassed to take any of my visiting guest there to eat, never to return. The Roast House should be totally EMBARRASSED for the totally UNPROFESSIONAL way for which the way they handled, or lack of handling, this entire experience.
I know I am just one of many customers, this review will not make any difference. I will just end with this, There was indeed what very well could have been a "Public Health Issue" that day. The OWNER simply IGNORED IT.
Buyer BEWARE..
You are better off going to your local gas station and grabbing one of those tightly wrapped...
Read moreI entered the restaurant for lunch and was greeted at the podium. The dining area wasn’t busy with only 3 tables with guests and pub area was not busy. I was then led to a tiny table that was probably just big enough for a child's tea party. I asked if I could be seated elsewhere. I got the immediate and distinct impression like it was going to be a big problem because I was dining alone, but with some hesitation I was offered a booth.
I sat down and noticed as I opened the utensils, the silverware was filthy, spotted, and actually had particles of something between the fork tines. The server came after a few minutes and took my beverage order. It seemed like she was in a rush tho. When she returned I ordered my food.
Shortly after the soup arrived in a piping hot bowl but the soup itself had cold spots and was lukewarm. I took two spoonfuls and pushed it aside. I asked for extra napkins and got none.
When the server finally came back, I told her the soup was cold and I told her I was disappointed with it. No response. No apology. She took the bowl and dashed away. I don't believe she was working on another table and there was another server working in the dining room so I'm not sure what her rush was. I do know it wasn't to hurry back with my lunch because I waited a while. Poor timing. My entree finally arrived and EVERYTHING was barely just warm.
I didn’t see my server again until I was nearly finished. The beef was a little tough and the vegetables looked like they were out of a can. I had to ask again for napkins before she dashed away. This experience was an utter disappointment.
When I received the check, I was utterly shocked that I was still being charged for the soup! I was not about go back and forth with anyone, but I did mention it to the woman at the podium. Apparently the 5 dollars and change is important for them to collect for a bowl of cold soup that wasn’t gazpacho.
Any kitchen that does not use a thermometer to test food temperatures is not professional. Any place that still charges you for food that wasn't prepared properly or served hot and was returned, or doesn’t offer an amendable solution, isn’t very customer conscious or good and isn’t in the business of hospitality. Things must be pretty bad here and I strongly believe, based on some of the other reviews and comments, this establishment needs a long overdue visit from: local health inspector, Food Safety and Inspection Service, and Food Safety and Inspection Service.
This entire dining experience was subpar and lackluster. Much like my server.
My only regret is that I did not read these reviews before I went there because it seems I experienced many of the same things that other people have. I definitely Will not return. 1 star is 1 too many.
Before anyone attempts to get a meal here, do yourself a big favor and read all of the comments and reviews....
Read moreI’m really upset to write this review since I’ve gone to this establishment for the past couple of years. Last Saturday I went to the Roast House for dinner with my boyfriend and we decided to order the Texas French fries (not sure if that is the correct name). Well it comes with bacon on it but we asked for it not to have bacon but for it to come on the side. The server came out with the app. and right before she placed it down she said I’m sorry but the kitchen didn’t cook it without bacon, is this okay or do you need a new one. I told her that, in fact, I don’t eat meat so please have a new one come out. She again apologized and said she would get that taken care of right away. About ten minutes went by and the app. was brought back out. No bacon on the top so we thought we were good. HOW WRONG WERE WE... as we got eating my boyfriend noticed that UNDER the top cheese there were still LOADS of BACONBITS! This is just completely unacceptable- I asked for the manager and a server/manager came over. She apologized and I wanted to cancel my entire meal. She insured me that she would watch for the kitchen prepare my entire meal. I was pretty Adamant about not eating but felt as though they were trying to make it right. However, at the end of the dinner we got the bill - the appetizer was comped but nothing else. I feel as though my dinner should have been to show good faith. Or had the actual manager come over OR the kitchen manager to show their sincere apologies. With that being said, we will not be back which is really...
