Shepherd's — Restaurant in Blackwell

This was a bad experience in every aspect of the order. We placed an order on line for pick up. When we arrived they couldn't find our order and hadn't prepared it yet. Finally found it on the office computer. They apologized and began preparing the order while we waited, however they had already shut off the deep fryer and didn't bother to heat the oil hot enough to cook the food without just soaking up the oil. It was so nasty. Every bit of it. Chicken fingers, french fries and chicken fried steak. Unfortunately we were on the road to Dallas and didn't bother to turn around and go back. I did reach out to them via email and expressed my issues but they never bother to contact me in return. Hence my review. I know, and understand, that it's hard please everyone. However, I believe customer service promptly addressing this concern could have rectified the situation, as in most situations. I can't make a recommendation for this restaurant. I honestly don't know if the food gets any better than what we received but I can vouch for poor...

Stopped here on our way from Wichita expecting a more fast food style place but it's actually a gas station with a convenience store and a majority of the food is precooked. There's a separate small dining room area off to the side with a few tables and chairs. We tried the catfish po boy, which was good. The fish was precooked, but the sandwich was made fresh while we waited with fresh sliced tomatoes and lettuce on it and despite the fish being precooked it wasn't really dried out or anything. The only setback on the orders, and why they are docked one star from a perfect score achieved on a previous order: We both ordered the Country Fried Steak Sandwich with two sides each, and we both ordered with no onion or pickles and both sandwiches included -- you got it -- red onion and pickles. The pickle juice left a bitter taste to the burn. Our order was placed online and it left specific topping requests.
