I have eaten here in the past and the food and service had been good. Yesterday, I went there for lunch with a friend who is hearing impaired and uses a certified, trained Guide Dog, wearing a vest that indicated the organization responsible for the training. The restaurant was virtually empy and the woman who greeted us said we could sit anywhere. The area we chose had no other patrons seated in it. The guide dog went under the table and layed down (as they are trained to do). Immediately, the owner of the Blairstwon Inn came over and informed us that they do not allow dogs in their restaurant, including service and guide dogs. My friend explained to her that the ADA permits guide dogs in restaurans. The owner said that didn't matter, that she was told by the Board of Health that she could prohibit all dogs. She added that she had signs posted to that effect. In fact, there were no signs posted regarding prohibiting dogs. She told us we were welcome to stay but the Guide dog could not. She then suggested that perhaps the diner across the street would allow Guide dogs. As we left, I told her she was breaking the ADA law. We left the establishment and went up the highway to the Buck Hill Brewery, where we were warmly welcomed with no questions or challenges made and had a...
Read moreWent out for a quick inexpensive dinner. Well that's not what we got. YES, it was Saturday at 6 but this isn't a big place and tables were open. The staff was very friendly. We ordered the Mozz stick, Reuben, a cheese steak, soup, and Ceasar salad (no meat on it.)The food was ok but the Reuben was a tiny piece of rye w maybe three pieces of thin meat on it for $15.00. The cheesesteak was $18.00 but they don't tell you there is a $3.00 charge for peppers onions and mushrooms which makes the Sandwich $21.00. The ceasar salad for $9.00 was the size of a side salad if not smaller. Price wise they are trying to compete with the Buck Hill but they need to understand they are not the Buck Hill and can't charge their prices and expect to have happy guests with mediocre food and a hometown bar atmosphere. We went out to support a local business for a hometown meal and paid for the Black Forest. We unfortunately will not...
Read moreI typically don't leave reviews but this one is a must. Went here because someone recommended I do so. From the very beginning it was terrible. Salads were WARM. My ribs must have just been boiled and were undercooked. Like not falling off the bone undercooked. Then covered in "their" jack daniels bbq sauce. My wife's salmon was surely previously frozen then also covered in a bottled teriyaki sauce. The broccoli had literally nothing on it and the mashed potatoes were the worst I have ever had. I can honestly say that I have never left anywhere more disappointed. I have had and would have better food at ANY local diner. And to boot...it was $70 without tip!!! Do yourself a favor and do...
