I have been wanting to come by and try their coffee despite generally disliking the idea that a chain, locally owned and operated or not, took up one of the best corner spots on the Blairsville square over a completely local shop.
Negative experience overall for my first time here, unfortunately.
When I went up to the counter, the worker there looked at me like I was an alien, and said not one word to me. Not one. They continued the stare down and I eventually asked, “Is there another protocol to ordering here that I’m not aware of?” to which they switched off to another employee who actually engaged with me but also had a slightly unpleasant demeanor.
I work with the public at both of my jobs and I don’t expect creepy fake niceness, but this was just unprofessional and awkward.
And lastly… Almost $9(!) for my iced latte, that is criminal for what was supposed to be only one up charge with no syrups. Sign said around $4.50 for the base latte at my size, which I checked before I went in also, so how did it end up doubling??
I either got rung up wrong and was too swept up with the awkward vibes and assumption they knew how to ring up a single drink order correctly that I didn’t notice until after the comedown of, “what even was that place, and why did I go??”, or they really upcharge that much, and neither look good.
I shouldn’t have to announce my presence or check their math, they should be trained better than this.
I give 2 stars because the coffee was good, and I wanted to see how their espresso was before perhaps ordering from their impressive and customizable bagged coffee menu, but would rather spend my money elsewhere in lieu of trying them out now with this first impression.
A nice slice of the equation of a good, dedicated coffee shop serving handcrafted drinks is the experience, otherwise I’d just get gas station coffee or make it at home.
Trying out new coffees and coffee spots is one of my favorite things to do when out and about places, old or new. This has been one of my most disappointing and I hate that it’s from my...
Read moreEDIT: Decided to stop by again and give it another chance. Everyone was friendly and patient with our order. Had the opportunity to chat with Sarah and she shared some of her challenges; I can tell that her heart is in this place and she is striving to offer great service, not only with her interaction with us, but with everyone visiting. My previous review was a result from experiences before Sarah took over, and I am glad to see improvement. I am critical when it comes to coffee and definitely room for improvement, but my wife is not and she was satisfied with her choices. They roast on site on a 2lb fluid Bed roaster, keeping up with demand with that small of a batch is a huge challenge for roasting constancy. But I am very happy Sarah shared this because I can look forward to see what each roasting have to offer. Today the espresso had some very nice fruity notes, to my taste could have been a little less extraction but it was a pleasant shot overall. I truly believe Sarah is making an impact alone with her team! The decor and atmosphere possible the best this place has. Beautiful place and if I own a coffee shop, would love to be like this. Unfortunately, the service and quality of coffee leaves a lot to be desired. Not surprised that coffee shops don’t pay attention to coffee because rely on milk and other flavors to create “coffee flavored drinks”, but if they are not able to recognize when a client is looking for a GOOD COFFEE and not just ignore it but have an attitude, not worth coming back. Sad because is a cozy place I would love...
Read moreCame here one of the mornings we were in the area hiking and camping for some coffee and hot chocolate. We had researched the place for coffee places prior to our trip and this was definitely one of the places we wanted to visit. The parking is hard to find being that this seems to be a busy place early to mid-morning with all the other various shops that are around with minimal parking at the traffic circle near the Old courthouse. While we were circling around several times looking for parking a nice local woman must have seen us and waved us down and told us that we could go behind a building even though it says you can't park there because they're remodeling and that's where she Parks all the time when she comes here. We thought that was a nice touch. Southern hospitality at its finest. She ended up in front of us as she was meeting friends for coffee as we waited on the long line and we thanked her again. The aroma of freshly ground coffee grinds saturated the air. Need I say more! I forget the name of it but whatever the dark most bold flavored coffee is that they sell is what I got. Tasted pretty good. The hot chocolate wasn't bad either. The ambiance inside of the establishment was very nice with comfy wooden chairs and upholstery etc. A bit stuffy inside because it was so packed so we opted to take our...
