It's a nice hole in the wall place. I'd recommend if you were in Blawnox, but other than that, it's pretty forgettable. I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, fried tofu bites, spring rolls, and a Thai iced tea. The food is a bit more expensive than competitors such as Smiling Banana Leaf.
I thought the Thai iced tea was excellent. Good size and lots of flavor. It's not just all sweetness; you can truly taste the tea blend. When it comes to the main dish, the Pad Thai, I was a bit disappointed. The portion is excellent. I was surprised by how heavy the dish was when I picked it up. To add to that, the tofu soaked up the sauce very well and was overall quite tasty. However, the flavor of the noodles was unexpected. It had too many scallions which lead to an unpleasant oniony flavor to the noodles. The dish was also on the oily side.
I enjoyed the spring rolls. Portion is okay and the sauce is standard, maybe a bit on the spicier side. They are packed with vegetables. Personally, I would not recommend the fried tofu appetizer. The tofu on its own is extremely bland; tastes like you are eating rubber. Even when you try smothering it in the tasty peanut sauce, it's still not very good.
Overall, I don't think I'll return here, for there are many genuinely great Thai restaurants in Pittsburgh. Some elements, like the Thai Iced tea and spring rolls, were quite good. The Pad Thai and tofu appetizer left much...
Read moreI ordered delivery from here for the first time today and was very let down. Today is my birthday so I figured I would treat myself with some pad Thai. When the delivery driver got to the restaurant, they texted me to say that the restaurant didn't have my order. I figured it wouldn't be too long for them to cook noodles and it'd be fresh. Food arrives and the noodles were all broken and clumped together in one mushy mass. Not enough sauce. I saw one peanut total. Way too many bean sprouts, I didn't know that could be a bad thing until now. And my poor shrimp. They put the shrimp at the bottom of the noodles dish, so the shrimp were overcooked and chewy. I'm disappointed that this is what I chose to have as my birthday lunch. Overall, the flavors were okay but not the level of Thai authenticity that I'm accustomed to.I guess I'm spoiled from living right by Smiling Banana Leaf. But all in all, I'm kind of glad it was terrible. My wallet and waistline will thank me. Maybe they were having a bad day? But come on, it's pad Thai from a Thai place. After that terrible first experience, it...
Read moreTHE ABSOLUTE BEST! The food quality is amazing, fresh, flavorful and absolutely delicious. I love this place so much and it is my new best Thai spot. I went there for the first time yesterday and I was blown by the exquisite great taste and deliciousness of the meal. I was so pleased. We asked for extra rice because it was just that good and they didn’t even charge us for it saying that they believe we came to eat and weren’t satisfied and should be satisfied so they gave us the rice for free. Ofcos the tip was as gracious as that amazing gesture and heart towards their customers. I had Basil Tilapia and my man had Mango Curry. You see that Basil, it was prepared in a way I’ve never seen, absolutely GOOD!. I also kept scoping out of his curry to add to mine cos I wanted all the greatness this place had to offer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, can’t remember the last time I was this excited about food. I’ll be back again for sure. The spot is small spaced but I mean they make it work also with a cute and clean layout. Thanks Maenam for showing me something diff with...
