Catering experience: The business started advertising catering. My aunt used them for her party. We liked the food and decided ask my aunt for the info. She said she paid $300 for 75 people worth of meat (30 lbs), beans, rice, and condiments for tacos. We thought we would order for our party of 50 people.
We called, made the order and were told it would be $350 for 20 lbs of meat, tray of rice, and condiments, only. I thought something wasnât right, so I spoke with the owner, and asked him why we were getting charged more for less than what my aunt received. He said they made a mistake, and that they would charge us $320 because pastor is more expensive than the chicken my aunt bought. I agreed because I didnât feel like fighting, and also wanted to believe him.
Party day arrives, and my husband goes to pick up the food. I called ahead to see if it was ready, and was told âyesâ. He got there and no one knew what he was talking about, when he arrived. He told them what we ordered, and they had him waiting for 30 minutes. Now, heâs running late, and guests are arriving at our party. While waiting, he called to tell me no one is helping him. Someone finally figured it out there, and when they rang him up at the register. It was $400.00. We were still on the phone, and I said, âThatâs not right, the owner told me it would be $320 plus tax.â My husband told the person at the register and they said no, this is the price. He asked to speak with the owner, who was there, and the server went to talk with the owner. When the server returned, she said he wouldnât come and that the price of $400 was firm. The owner went to the kitchen and never came back out. We were very frustrated at that point, because he was running late, and being scammed. My husband told them, we would not recommend the restaurant if they did not fix the problem, and their attitude was âtake it or leave itâ. We were in a bad position with needing food for our party, and guests were arriving, so we bought the food for $400, left, and really tried to move on and be happy, but it was a terrible experience.
We really could have paid a cook to come make food at our party for $100 more. On top of that, that they forgot to include the condiments to go with the taco meat, which they said they would provide. My husband had to go home and chop cilantro and onion, which further made him late to our gathering. Our guests didnât get to eat until nearly 2 hours after arriving. The BAD SERVICE, and DISHONESTY due to greed lost them a customer, and many more. I would never ever want anyone to go through what we went through, with this place. I hope this never happens to anyone else. This place is not worth the...
Read moreWe were getting food from here consistently, until recently. The girls who take the orders are usually very nice here and the food was really good, but the last trip here was our last time getting food from here. They are charging much more money (more than their menu says) and the food has been outright nasty the last 3 times.
The girl who worked that night seemed very non-interested in taking our order, seeming to not understand a word we said (her English is very good, as is mine!). We asked for hot sauce (with nearly $60.00 worth of food), only to get ONE (1) red sauce, I expected to at least get 4-5 like they used to give, other places give.
We bought food for 5 people, were we expected to share that hot sauce among all of us? I am white and my wife is Filipino, so I guess we only were worth one hot sauce with our big order? We are always polite and always courteous to them and other patrons when we go to get food, so it could not be our behavior!
The food took a long time to get, we were one of the first to order there, yet people making large orders after us seemed to get their food before us. Then, discovering we only got 1 red sauce, I had to drive all the way back there to get more.
The girl who took our order and gave us one red sauce did not apologize, in fact she seemed to think it was funny and seemed to be talking about me in Spanish to the other girl who was working there (they were smiling and turning around, looking at me). I had to go to work soon (I work overnights), only to deal with this nonsense and poor behavior.
By the time I reached back home, my wife was complaining how bad her food was, my parents were, even my daughter who is 4! My taco salad was undercooked (soggy, greasy crust) and non-edible, looked nasty, and was now ice cold thanks to me having to go back for hot sauce. I ended up throwing it out after 3 total bites of it, 2 after microwaving it. The fact we spent $60.00 for nasty "food" and poor service was our last time going there. We used to be regulars, I guess they do not want our business? Most of the food ended up in our fridge, not even eaten, and thrown out 3 days later. Only 2 stars due to past good food...
Read moreFirst time experience. To go order. I judge first time restaraunt experiences by how well they do on the basics. For instance, I would judge a Chinese place by how well they did with the egg rolls. For Mexican it's tacos. If you cant do well in the basics...I'm out! In this case, I ordered a taco dinner with chips and salsa. It was my mistake to not request a flour tortilla. They asked if i wanted everything on it, but not what tortilla I preferred. They should give you the option. In any event, the steak tacos were good, with only one instance of grissle I had to spit out. With the rising costs of dining out, they could save money by not including garnishes like a whole pepper, a whole onion and a lime wedge. Also could save in time and paper from wrapping each taco individually. Just lay them side by side in the container. The money saved could be better spent on a quality chip for their chips and salsa. Chips are sub-par to say the least. But the salsa on the other hand...exceptional!! In fact I'll be going back just for salsa to go...I'll use my own chips! I believe in supporting local businesses and this one as worth supporting. An overall pleasant experience...but don't give me a whole onion...put it in the taco! UPDATE... Went back and ordered taco donner with FLOUR tortilla. Tasted good for the most part. Problem being that the most was sooooo saturated in grease it soaked my tortillas and they all fell apart because of all the grease. DRAIN THE MEAT BEFORE PUTTING IT IN THE TORTILLA! And THEN there's a 40 cent charge for using charge card!? Sorry, but that's the cost of doing business! Shouldn't be absorbed by the customer. Prices are...
