Great food! Great people! Their turkey tips are sooo delicious! Get it with the mild and hot sauce mixed! The sauce drenched fries are something to call home about! Service was great! If you don't order in advance, please be patient. The food is cooked to order. It's worth the wait! Catfish is also on point! Get sauce on the side. I can drink the sauce or sop it up with bread! It is sooooo good LOL! Chicken is also perfect! The smoke and sauce plus the freshness of the meat is everything for a barbecue! I love this place!
UPDATE: I am looking at the other reviews and would like to give some input to both customers and the owners!
Customers: I would advise to order in advance and specifically explain your order (burnt edges, cooked light, etc.. light sauce, heavy sauce crispy fries etc...). Not sure if it will accommodate, but just a suggestion. Type it in the section provided in the app. This place gets packed! This is not "fast food". They are taking internal and external orders. It will take time for your food to be cooked the "right way". Rushing the service may give you a rushed order. Be patient or order at least an hour in advance. Pick up your food at the designated time if its FRIED. Fried food will wilt unless it is overly saturated with an agent. If we train ourselves as customers (patience and prompt) we should expect the best experience.
Owners: Always remain professional (Smile, greet, Thank You, Have a nice day, Hello with a smile). Some people will give back the same energy that you put out. Show patience, nice, and understanding even when they don't. If it gets intolerable, let it. Keep a positive demeanor. If it's wild... call for assistance :) Accept changes that may come from this review. Some people read these reviews and understand, so try to keep this in mind before putting up a shield. One bad customer experience is not a fit for all. ALWAYS deliver good and fresh food or don't sell it at all. ALWAYS give good service or just close the door for a moment to reset. 10 bad reviews lead to 50 turn arounds. Good reviews build your clientele over time. The more success.. the more people! 10 Good reviews can lead to 20 new customers and continue! Those 10 Bad one's will definitely turn away a lot of people. Try to accommodate as best as you can. Everyone doesn't have the same taste pallet (I would advise to order in advance and specifically explain your order (burnt edges, cooked light, etc.. light sauce, heavy sauce crispy fries etc...). Not sure if it will accommodate, but just a suggestion.). Take Pride but don't be "prideful". You have a gem! There are not a lot of good barbecue places! But! I travel far to you! Think about...
Read moreUpdate 1/2021 As long as they have Kiara taking orders and answering the calls, they can keep up with the amount of hungry customers. Everytime I had the pleasure of her taking my order I was greeted and Thanked for patronizing this restaurant. It's a whole experience not just wonderful food. She is the Game Changer! Well appreciated service and great food! Plus smelling the good smoke from the pit don't make it better while waiting for your food so time is of the essence. Thanks for consistency after improving Chicago Pit đ
Update: 10/16/2020 I have been in twice since my first review and I have see new faces and new service. I had a slight issue last time so I held my update until I went in today. I'm so glad I did! The young lady that took my order delivered excellent professional service! She got the line down quickly, didn't miss a call in order, and gave me a smile and Thanked me đ. Y'all, she gave me the red carpet ok! The straws were nice and new my last two visits but I still have to check out the cakes again.
Also great, a customer who had an online order got it right away which is a tip for my next visit. Thank you Chicago Pit Stop for making the improvements in your service and products. This customer appreciaties it đ¤đ¤đ¤
I'm going to give them 3 stars because the rib tips and hot links are the bomb! However, the long wait time and ignored call in ordering is aweful. I have had to wait over ten minutes just to place an order and that's important especially when you are trying to catch the lunch special. If they finally come out a minute past 3, though you been waiting for someone to come to the counter, then you can't get the lunch deal and that's an extra $8-9 on your bill. I do have a budget y'all.
Also, I would not recommend the cakes only because they absorb the smoke flavor of the pit and German Chocolate barbeque smoke is a nasty tasting cake. They need to store them better to prevent this issue because those cakes sold everywhere else taste goooooodđ Lastly, the straw wrapper looks like they had been there a very long time and I don't enjoy smokey lemon lime soda either. *Ask for a straw and see if you would want to use it. No smiles when you order - they seem overwhelmed and no "thank you" either. I'm not sure if the manager really shows up to ensure these things are handle as they are too simple to miss. I hope they hire more people so we can order order order đ...
Read moreThis review is for the Pit Stop in Chicago Heights on 402 West 14th Street. I'm from out of state and always look forward to getting my q from this place. It is usually top notch quality. However last Sunday I went there with a family member and the food was horrible. We ordered hot links and received about a teaspoon of sauce.Hence the links were too dry to eat. Also we paid for two extra sauces that they did not put in the bag. Making a mistake is one thing, but the response from management was appalling. The alleged manager had no business savvy. He insisted that we should have brought the food back. Well we called Sunday and did not get an answer. They were closed on Monday. We were going to place a huge order next week and have cancelled our plans because of the inappropriate and unprofessional response from one of the so-called managers The appropriate response from a business perspective is to have offered a discount, a free pop or something to make us whole. It's a shame we have to say au revoir to this establishment!
Part II My cousin and I went in person to get a refund for the sauces we did not receive. However we couldn't find the receipt. I explained how disappointed I was to wait for months to have some good bbq and end up having the bad experience with customer service, incomplete order and overwhelmingly poor quality of the links. The woman who presented hersef as the manager heard us discussing the issue with another customer who shared similar experiences with the Pit Stop. He talked about the quality being "hit or miss"and shared our views about the overwhelmingly poor customer service. When the woman heard me say they should offer us something for the inconvenience, she indicated she was going to offer something. She asked us to wait. She went to the back and after telling us to wait a minute. After about a 10 minute wait, we learned from the cashier that "there was nothing she could" do. We left and will not be patronizing the Pit Stop anymore. The good news is that we went to Kirk's BBQ in South Holland. Review: Customer Service 5 (They actually follow up with customer complaints and work on customer satisfaction by reaching out to address concerns). Food 5 Atmosphere 5 I highly recommend this...
