I really hate to write a bad review, and I rarely write them unless things are exceptionally bad. My husband and I typically get carry out or door dash from Zalman's, and the food is always excellent. We stopped in to eat this past Sunday around 1:30. Our waiter was a tall, thin young man with glasses. I won't list his name and embarrass him. Our whole meal was a terrible experience from start to finish. We initially ordered two coffees and two mimosas. He never brought either item. I asked for silverware. He never brought that. I ended up stealing it from another table that was set for new customers. He came back twice to confirm our order because he didn't write it down. He went on to serve other tables and prepare carry outs and never brought the drinks. Finally, when he delivered our food, I asked him again for coffee (3rd time). He did bring it that time, but I had to wait another 5 minutes for him to bring creamer. He never returned for refills. I had to ask the young lady who cleared our table for coffee, and she gave me the bottom of the pot. My husband ordered avocado toast, and he said it was delicious. I had a ham and cheese omelette that was underdone and prepared with no salt or pepper. There was no chance I could even ask for hot sauce since our waiter never returned until he brought the bill. Our waiter did apologize for forgetting the coffee and removed the coffee from the bill. While I do appreciate the apology, it is brunch time on a Sunday - how can you overlook coffee? I am am sure it is ordered 99% of the time. Luckily, we were not charged for the mimosas. Zalman's is not inexpensive. Our bill came to around $50 for an omelette, avocado toast, and some fruit. That was a lot of money for bad food and...
Read moreBeautiful space with great potential. My family came here for brunch today with a reservation. I understand it was a larger party, but the service received was honestly a bit shocking. Being someone who has worked in the food service industry before, I have very good patience and it takes a lot to irk me. Firstly, the space they put us in was extremely cold. Having an elderly person with us in the room made this not only uncomfortable for myself (a fully capable adult) but potentially dangerous for someone of her age and health. They briefly accommodated us but then at some point turned the heat back off.
Our server was clearly overwhelmed but very poorly adapted. After roughly 15-20 minutes of waiting for a server, we did get to place an order. He took one to two orders at a time and would then disappear from the table without warning. At one point a member of the table was trying to joke around to lighten up the situation and said “I’m going to make things complicated” because she wanted a latte and the waiter said “no” and moved onto the next guest. Clearly we were not going to make him happy in any way. In fact, every time we made a request (ex: maple syrup for the pancakes), I could clearly see the irritation on his face. He cut off people mid order, and did not anticipate the needs of guests. The food came out at drastically different times and I believe the whole experience took about two hours for breakfast. For a very expensive meal ($20 for a plain bagel and lox???) we were sorely...
Read moreI went here with my family for Mother’s Day and to celebrate a birthday! I have to say in all honestly that we were sorely disappointed. We saw all the great reviews online and thought it would be a great place to go.
Here are the reasons we had a bad time at this restaurant:
The food itself wasn’t anything fabulous. The burger was great tasting, the fries are pretty average, and the meatloaf was lacking in flavor. My family was explained what Matzah Ball soup is when we asked why there was such a small portion for $14. Didn’t answer our question nor help us in the situation. Additionally, it lacked flavor and only came with one matzah ball. The portions are small and the price does not match what you get. $26 dollars for a burger with add-ons and over $20 for a Caesar salad with nothing fancy. Literally no one was in the restaurant but us. Yet, it took 20 minutes just for our order to be taken. CHECK YOUR BILLS! Our bill had $34 dollars added on for no reason. It wasn’t the gratuity or large party charge. We spent an extra 20 minutes fixing the bill as well.
We don’t expect much from a restaurant. But the reviews do not match the dinner expectations. Maybe the food, service, and portions are better for breakfast or lunch, but do not come...
