I read reviews bemoaning the finished product. Some people thought the ingredients weren't very good, or that their pizza was comparable to a frozen pizza. You can not be serious.
I've been to Valeo's a couple of times. It's good. It's not a secret, this place sources its own ingredients, and nothing is pre-fabricated. They may not brag about it, but it's true. You can taste the difference. If you can't, then I pity your taste buds.
There are decent frozen pizzas, and having one in the freezer is not a crime. There are times when ordering a national chain's pizza makes sense. You have non-discerning teens to feed, and a handful of them. Simple, no frills pepperoni pizza from Pizza John's will suffice. There are local joints that make a good sausage pizza. And there are times when you want a tasty, unique pizza made the right way, and it's worth a few dollars more to get something better than average. This place is that place.
If you like your sausage bland, it's not a crime. But if you appreciate a more flavorful slice of pizza than you'll ever take home and bake yourself from a few doors down the street, put this place on your radar. You don't have to appreciate good pizza, but if you do, then do yourself a favor and pick one up at Valeo's.
People say you can't pay cash. Bummer. I order online in advance. But I get the disappointment that places have stopped taking cash. Welcome to 2020!
This place is also well known to support the community, and they were more than generous to my nieces during their grand opening week. Bloomington is lucky to have the only Valeo's in Minnesota. (No, I'm not related to the ownership, and I'm not an employee. I just don't find writing to...
Read moreIt was my first time trying out Valeo's as I had a coupon in the mail. Decisions were tough after looking on the website for takeout, but went with Buffalo Chicken with thin crust (standard) as hand tossed was extra. I had to go into the restaurant to use the coupon and place my order, which didn't bother me. Someone else may find it inconvenient if paying online, but can not use a coupon with no code.
The Buffalo Chicken pizza was very good with so much flavor like the sliced garlic, the buffalo sauce on the pizza crust vs. marinara, and the chicken. I like the ratio of cheese to the rest of the toppings as it should be balanced. The thin crust is not as thin as one would think, but nor is it thick. I really like the 'chew' and the thickness.
The cheeseburger pizza is delicious, but I added ketchup and mustard. 😋
I like to ask a lot of questions, and the guy at the counter was good with the conversation. The special on the menu IN-store is the cheeseburger pizza, which sounds delicious, but the website has the Dillicious pizza (not on the menu in store). You can order the Dillicious regardless. The guy said both of these pizzas are very good, and I will order those the next time.
For Valeo's to stand out, I think they should keep with 1 or 2 creative specialty pizzas to compete with another pizza competitors' unique pizza choices. They do offer desserts like a blondie, a cheesecake, and a cookie. I feel they could create a fun dessert pizza that is not like commercial pizza places dessert pizza. They could reinvent an oldie, but goodie using a fruit topping. Think elevated!
I'm curious to know more about the Giving back to the community one...
Read moreTonight was my first time trying Valeo's Pizza! I called in my order. A 10" thin crust Valeo's special, minus the olives! When I got there, I had to wait for my pizza, which was okay, because I like to get it right out of the oven! Kurt was at the register, and I informed him that it was my first time there and I asked him how they compare to Broadway Pizza. His reply, you're gonna like it better! My reply? I'll see about that! 😉 I told him I've been a customer of Broadway Pizza for 51 years! He told me to let him know what I thought about it, so I called him after my brother and I were done eating the pizza. I told Kurt that they are definitely in competition with Broadway Pizza! He liked hearing that! My brother and I truly enjoyed their pizza and we will definitely order their pizza again! Their pizza had more ingredients on their pizza, verses Broadways! The only downside was their box. My brother told Kurt it'd be nice if they'd switch to a fully closed box, verses their box that had vent holes. Reason being, a fully closed box keeps the pizza hotter! We were within a few minutes of their restaurant. But despite the box, I encourage everyone to give your place a try! For trying it for the first time, I give them a high five! 10 stars, all around! I'm definitely looking forward to trying other pizzas and other items of yours! I came in from Eden Prairie and it was definitely worth the trip!! I just wish you had...
