I wanted to take the time to make this review as descriptive as possible so you the reader could hopefully walk this EXEMPLRY dining experience with me. After working on and off in the food service industry for 30 years FoH and BoH, I decided to actually become a foodie, since then I have been an active foodie all up and down the east coast and in the mid-west for the last 20 plus years. The size of my rear will tell you all those great experience foodie stories. When I am at a place of this caliber for the first time I make considerations for cleanliness, service/customer service, quality of food (preparation and ingredients of food), knowledge of food and beverages being offered and presentation. I went inside somewhat dubious (from past experience at other places) but was immediately pleasantly surprised by the light and well-chosen decor. The easy jazz gently pouring out of the speakers gave me hope for an amazing foodie experience. Aesthetically we were 3 for 3 my heartstrings were puffing up, woot woot. After confirming I could in fact eat at the bar, that is where I sat. Chelsea is their expert mixologist started me with an old fashioned made with a rye whisky after she asked me if I wanted whisky or more of a rye whisky. The bar was fully stocked with proper garden and mostly higher tier liquors. Chelsea then went on to tell me about this evenings specials the first in the lineup was a French inspired shrimp and grits with fried shallots on parmesan encrusted grits. She didn't even finish, I was sold, this was my appetizer. It arrived and I have to say each bite was even better then the previous bite. The grits were cooked to perfection as was the shrimp and the fusion of Parisian and southern americana flavors was divine inspired. I am not even being dramatic, divine inspired! At this point I ordered the strawberry, basil Tito's martini. It was light and refreshing and the flavor blend was delicious. Neither the fruit or alcohol were overpowering but paired well together. As an entree My eyes were captivated by the beef stroganoff made with cavatappi pasta, braised beef, peas and carrots, wild mushrooms and cream. It wasn't your mother's beef stroganoff, and I am not trying to be no kind of way but it was better then your mom's. The pasta was cooked appropriately and kept fresh so it didn't lose it's consistency sitting in water or sauce. The taste was so beautifully balanced and unchanging with every mouthful. You got each flavor of each ingredient in each bite. I will say to Joshua Howard the Executive Chef, the only way to achieve that type of culinary perfection is to know what the hell you are doing and sir, you absolutely know what you are doing. Thank you for sharing all of your epic, mad skills with the public in general. Jamie (one of the part owners) explained to me that all ingredients are as locally sourced as possible. Not only are ingredients locally sourced they make from scratch as many of the menu offerings as well, as in they make their homespun honey butter in house. Their cream comes from a local farm and their honey comes from Conyers. As a huge fan of family owned and operated businesses this is just one more fact about Marrow 41 that I LOVE. At this point I am getting stuffed but know I want something sweet. So, I ordered the " Basil Blackberry Buffalo Trace Borbon Smash." It totally hit the spot as a slightly sweet dessert cocktail. An excellent complement of craft beer and wines are always offered. I cannot give this place and their staff enough praise. Except to say imagine my shock when the whole bill came up to only about $80.00 WHAT THE HELL? I even told the bartender I think I was undercharged. She and the owner looked at the bill and assured me, the cost was correct. This place is awesome, and everyone is welcome here with a true sense of Southern hospitality and complete acceptance no matter who you are. This crowned jewel of middle Georgia is a must experience. All owners and staff diligently work on offering the freshest and best food at the best price....
Read moreMy wife and I happened across this gem on a road trip. While the number of reviews may not seem impressive, this place deserves every bit of 5 stars. To our surprise we were met with jalapeño cornbread (which rivaled my mom's), served warm, light, fluffy & moist with a side of butter (still salivating) My wife enjoyed a strawberry basil martini & the Filet with garlic mashed potatoes & broccollini. This was cooked medium rare as requested, and was plated neatly and deliciously. I ordered the braised beets, candied pecans, goat cheese, baby greens with shrimp kissed with raspberry vinaigrette. It was very well balanced speaking to the salt, sweet, sour and fresh balance. The portion was great as an appetizer (but I have an unusually healthy appetite). However, having another 4 hours to drive, this dish spared me from the dreaded food coma. The only complaint we had was that Marrow 41 is an 11 hour drive from home. Thanks for the memorable experience, y'all got a...
Read moreI have tried several items on the lunch and dinner menu and my favorite so far has been the Beef Stroganoff. However, tonight I ordered the “Half Chicken with Chefs vegetables” & WOW! I like sides so we ordered the Pimento Cheese Bites and Fried Okra which both were very tasty as well. My husband ordered a mixed greens salad with the Chefs special Lemon Mint Vinaigrette dressing and it was amazing! The selection of beer & wine is extraordinary, and the strawberry mint martini seems to be very popular too! I can honestly say there has not been one item that I have tasted that was not unique in taste or presentation and Chef Josh Howard really is an artist in the kitchen! Oh! The burgers are so good too! The restaurant has new owners and new managers and so far it seems to be keeping a good reputation of serving fine quality food with professional service....
