This place was quite busy when I sat down for lunch. Unlike many taquerias, San Miguel operates liked a regular Mexican restaurant instead of a grocery store atmosphere.

I was seated quickly and brought the infamous chips & salsa right away. At first glance I thought the salsa was going to be average but that turned out to be wrong. It had quite a nice tangy flavor that kept me eating it for way too long. 😂 My addiction to chips & salsa is well documented. The chips were a yellow corn variety and were of a medium thickness.

This being my first time I struggled with what to order a bit but couldn't get past trying the Birria Tacos I saw on Google Maps.

The food came quickly and I was ready to dive in. A BIT OF A WARNING: These tacos were quite messy and required about 3 large napkins to eat! 3 tacos came on the plate accompanied by a salad, Birria dipping sauce, and a green hot sauce. I found myself opening the tacos and putting a squirt of green hot sauce, and then dipping them in the Birria sauce. While the tacos were quite tasty, I don't think they were as good as the Chica Tacos at Ramirez. A few downsides: The tacos were incredibly greasy and contained a lot more fat than I would prefer in a taco. (I don't prefer fat in a taco. 🤣) They were slippery to the touch as well. But the flavor was amazing!

So to answer the big question, "Would I go back?" I certainly would. I enjoyed the chips & salsa and would like to give some other menu...

had lunch there for the 2nd time. the first time we got puffy taco salad, it was very good and my mom got the cheese enchilada dinner....she LOVED it but.....the cheese inside the enchiladas were in chunks...not melted at all.....we tried again today.....this time i got the taco salad, loved it more..lots of meat! my 81 year old mother got the same cheese enchiladas again and I ASKED THEM SPECIFICALLY to make sure the cheese was melted this time because after zapping them in the microwave, it dried up all the cheese sauce.....guess what? got home and the cheese STILL WASNT MELTED.....sigh....not sure if we'll try it again or not.....i hate that because she's old and when she finds something she loves, she likes to get it over and over lol.....not sure she'll try it again. the beans and rice were good, no problems. loved the hot sauce too! i want to add that this was during the LUNCH HOUR and not at night. i have friends that have eaten those same enchiladas at night and they were completely melted. might be...

This is my most favorite Mexican restaurant this side of the river. I have ordered many many of the items and have yet to find one that was not just delicious. Everyone who works here is also just a pleasure to see. They all seem to luv their job. Which always makes for a great lunch. The salsa is great the beef taco is almost too pretty to eat!!!! I love their enchiladas especially when I ask for a spinach one. It’s not just dry can spinach like most others.

I am so disappointed regarding my take out order. I ordered the cheese brisket tacos. One hardly had any meat and no cheese at all. None of them were cooked fully. There was little to no cheese in all three tacos. I don't understand why the to go orders have been like this. We order to go almost every Friday, and I've been disappointed all but one Friday. I don't understand why the to go orders are not made at the level of the sit-in restaurant orders.
