My family and I visited the Hoover Dam after a lengthy drive, so eating at the cafe was the logical choice. WARNING: this place is way overpriced. They also charge a 4% service charge (whatever that is) on top of the prices, and then they seem to expect a tip for a fast food experience. Truth be told, the burgers were good, but they better be when they're charging $19 for a double cheeseburger and fries. I even wanted to get their triple bacon cheeseburger for $22 on the menu. The cashier said they weren't doing that anymore, even though it was on the menu displayed right there. They weren't out of ingredients either, they had the patties, cheese, bacon, and bun. That was frustrating in my opinion. The takeaway for me is that if you go here, just know that you're a captive audience and they know that they're the only show in town and don't really care about providing a good customer service experience. The guy cleaning off tables had better customer service than the cashier... that's the guy who should be...
Read moreOur family's road trip took us through Nevada a few weeks ago so we stopped to visit Hoover Dam. The Hoover Dam Cafe is a cool and delicious gem in a sea of tourists and heat. It's a cafeteria style eatery. You order, pay, find somewhere to sit, then go grab your food. The staff were friendly. The facilities were clean and spacious. We found a table as our party were in line to order. Their footlong hotdogs were plump and delicious with generous toppings. The signature burger were one of the best burgers we had in the Vegas area. The patty was perfectly seasoned and moist. The bacon was crispy and thick. Lettuce, tomato and onion were fresh and crisp. The contrast hit all the right criteria. We also grabbed their large smoothie. It was refreshing, smooth, full of flavor. The price was a little intimidating but considering inflation and where it's located, we took the dive and tried their menu. It was worth it. We all...
Read moreThis café is located directly in front of the main parking garage and south of the entrance to the Visitor and Tour Center. It consists of a food court with numerous indoor and outdoor seating options and attached to the café is a large gift shop, selling all the typical souvenirs items you expect to find at such a location. The items you will find are the gift shop and much higher as well as the food options, since this is really the only place on the dam to purchase these items, except for the occasional soda/water vending machines around the dam. There is another smaller gift shop located at Hoover Dam Overlook, which is on the Arizona side of the dam. The staff members in both the café and gift shop do not appear to be the happiest of employees but by no means are they rude or disrespectful. Probably just tired of all the dumb questions they must answer from all the visitors they have to...
