New York City Deli — Restaurant in Bourbonnais

My wife went in around lunch time to pick up lunch. She let me know it’s a really cute inside spot with an area to sit and eat.

We got the Super Ham Delight and everything and a side of potato salad. Amazing. Tasty. It was packed, cut and presented beautifully. I have had plenty of deli sandwiches from NYC and this was comparable, especially in the middle of Illinois. It was warm when it got to me, the meat is stuffed and piled, pickle crisp! I loved the way they wrapped it up and cut it perfectly.

My wife had the pastrami on a roll and it was so flavorful and perfect. She had just cheese and a pickle and it was a great lunch.

The potato salad is SO good, it doesn’t have a ton of flair, it is thin hand cut potatoes with dressing, and honestly it doesn’t need anything else. I can’t wait to try more of their...

As soon as I came in I let the older woman behind the counter know this was my first time there. She didn’t smile, didn’t greet me and showed me the menu. No suggestions from her. It was like she didn’t want to be there. I ordered the spicy special #1. She took my order and my money and never looked at me again. The sandwich was on a doughy roll and was not spicy at all. Because I had it warmed up it kind of made the bread slimy. I think it would’ve been better on a hard roll or toasted. Wish sourdough was an option. Overall I wouldn’t eat there again not so much because of the food, but because the woman appeared crabby, and indifferent. I didn’t feel welcome and she certainly didn’t make me want to come back. First off the place is very small but clean inside. I got my sub fairly quickly which was nice. Now for my take of this place. I really liked the sub I really did. 2-3 draw backs though. For one the sun should have been on a turano roll. I didn’t like the rolls they used. 2 I thought it was just a bit overpriced for what you get. I thought the super would have been bigger than it was. 3 the meat should be distributed evenly throughout the sun and not concentrated towards the center. All in all it was a pretty dang good sub. Would be a 4-5 star with a turano roll and about $2 cheaper.. I’ll go back and maybe next time I’m get a ruben...
