Brackett Burger & Shake — Restaurant in Brackettville

Awful experience. Stopped to get quick bite went through the drive-thru and order a burger, shake and grilled cheese and was told kindly to wait out front for my food. After an hour I decided to go inside for the status of my food (I thought it was understandable since the place was packed for a Thursday night). I was told the only thing made was the grilled cheese and that it would have to be another 10 minutes. Well another 30 minutes past(I notice other customers who had arrived after my meal was ordered get served first and seemed to be friends with the employees) and I asked to check the status of my food and was rudely told to either wait or leave, so I got requested my money back and left. It was a waste of time. Future customers I advise to either watch out when you get told to wait out front or just sit at the drive thru until you get your meal. We weren't expecting much. After all, this drive in is in a small town on a US Highway pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Boy, were we surprised! I had a half pound cheese burger which was grilled to perfection with just a hint of pink showing. Ripe tomato, grilled onion, Mayo, ketchup and American cheese. Pickles and lettuce omitted per my request! Fresh potatoes (steak fries) cut on the spot and fried light golden brown. They weren't too crispy but not too soft either. Just right! My wife had a smaller version of my burger which she made disappear in a hurry. She is usually kind of particular about her burger but had only praise for this meal. If you have the opportunity, stop in and treat yourself. The sign says they make great shakes too but we didn't try them. Maybe...

I get that it’s December and I got ice cream but that doesn’t mean that you can serve old frost bitten ice cream at a shake place. Also, I found a large piece of paper in my mint chocolate chip and the ice cream was all gummy and weird. It was inedible and went in the trash. My husband went inside to get it and he said all the ice cream in the freezer looked completely frosted over 🤢 I’d only been here one other time (in the summer) and it was good, but this time was just nasty…I mean I didn’t even know ice cream could be disgusting. You all should seriously think about chucking all of it and getting some fresh stuff bc my husband said the cobbler ice cream that he got was the same. You could make someone sick if...
