Wawa as a brand has peaked, and is going into a decline. The quality of the food, has been going down for years, their gas burns faster than competitors. They keep adding items, and options just to remove them shortly after (hydration add on for smoothies), and every new person they hire seems more rude than the last. The overnight manager actually got into a physical fight with a customer. I've talked to him before, and it doesn't surprise me. Not wishing violence on anyone, but I'm genuinely surprised it didn't happen sooner than it did.
After talking to them I can understand why. Had one girl on register during the day look like she was falling asleep, and resented being there, and looked at me like I was the cause of all of the problems in her life.
Fanni, the overnight manager who I guess is filling in for the former overnight manager who thought he was a professional boxer; seems to have nights where she has an attitude as well. I tried to get a special order pizza, she rudely refused part of my request, and stormed off like child that's had their favorite toy taken away. Instead of apologizing, and asking if there was anything else I need, or better yet apologizing, EXPLAINING why my simple request can't be fulfilled, and asking if there was anything else I needed. I've done customer service my whole life, so I can understand that, and I would have let it go, and never written this review.
What happened next was humiliating, and embarrassing, and is why I'm writing this review. After she stormed off, she called all the employees together for a meeting, not in the office, or a backroom, or somewhere away from the public, but right in the middle of the deli where anyone could see, and hear what they were talking about.
Fanni started an emergency meeting to talk about me, directly in front of me. It was one of the unprofessional, things I've seen in a while. She told them not to fulfill certain kinds of pizza special request. I honestly didn't hear that part because I was hungry, and tired after a long day of working. Other employees chimed in that people were being ridiculous, and getting out of control with their orders. People ordering buffalo chicken pizza, hamburger pizza, etc.
Again I've done food service, I've done customer service. I'm an adult, and I can understand that you can't do certain things, and that you sometimes have to tell customers no. Did you really have to have a meeting about a customer, complaining about customers, right in front of that customer? Couldn't you have gone in the office? How about waiting until I left? Does Wawa not teach you not to complain about customers in front of the customer, especially if it's the SAME customer? I can't believe how petty Fanni is.
Want to know what's real funny?
Guess what my super complicated request was that warranted an emergency meeting?
JalapeƱos.
I wanted JalapeƱos on my pizza, and that shut down Wawa for 5-10 minutes.
They needed all that time to say "customers bad" lol.
I hope you enjoyed your power trip Fanni. Maybe next time try "Sorry, but I can give you a side of JalapeƱos.", and they maybe talk junk about how difficult I am 5 seconds after I walk away. Like every other job that deals...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis WaWa is less than a block from my house and I drive past it multiple times per day. The drink fountain, coffee, sandwiches, gas and everything else is about as high quality, clean and well staffed as you could possibly expect. If you compare a say... $8 for lunch at WaWa to what you get in most fast food joints, it's amazing how much better value you get at WaWa. I wish you could tip the sandwich people though. They are back there working so hard and always get my order right - it feels unfair they are not allowed to get gratuities. It would be great if they at least pooled tips for all the staff. When I think about WaWa, I think about how great free enterprise is. They opened this one nearby another convenience store and you could go by and see 40 cars at WaWa and one or two at the other place. If you deliver consistent value and people can count on getting what they want at a fair price at your business, they just keep coming back. The other convenience store closed very soon after WaWa opened - which is always sad but they had just as good as an opportunity to fight for the customers and well... WaWa won by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo, a walk in customer paying for $20 of gas with a debut card tries to put gas in their car. The pump is not activated and the person tries again several times. Ends up going back into store to let them know the pump was not activated. The person (employee behind the counter is very rude to the customer. It was obviously employee's mistake for not activating the pump. They say the customer has to pay again to activate the pump. They have not enough more money left on their card. If it had not been for me being there and paying 20 dollars cash to get them gas - the other customer would have had to wait 24 hours to get their debut card money back. The employee was also rude to me when I questioned them why can they not handle this and give the customer their fuel. The employee went as far as saying they did not like the way "they" were being treated and the customer would have to go somewhere else. I WAS a regular customer of this location. Won't be anymore because I have witnessed this type of behavior several times now at...
