Bamboo Leaf in Bradley Beach, NJ is truly excellent Thai food. The Papaya salad was prepared as it should and hosted a really nice depth of flavor. The Pad Kee Mao was also delicious… made properly, a nice light char to the noodles, which is always a nice touch. I asked for my food to be Thai hot… and boy do they deliver! Chopped thai chilies on everything…. Finally got very hot when asked (you have to be into serious heat when asking for this here). The two dishes pictured… no drink… tax, tip and credit card fee equaled over $50 for lunch. Overall, I’d highly recommend if you want skillful Thai meal. The one thing that irked me… as the check came out I was notified of the flat credit card processing fee of $4. Won’t break the bank, but this is just frustrating, annoying and petty, based on principle at this point as more and more restaurants are passing hidden fees in addition to the price of the food. (Taking a nod from those annoying cellular service providers??) This practice needs to stop, in general… Bamboo is part of the problem. Doing the math, the fee they charged was higher than the fee they incurred …. So this is more than a true pass through/offset.

Last night we stopped in here without a reservation, a soft spoken guy says give me about 20 minutes, so we waited outside! Place was jammed packed, and we had no idea what to expect, so we waited, and damn am I glad we did. Last night I had one of the best meals of my life. I had no idea what the menu meant, I'm not familiar with Thai food, but on the recommendation of the owner I ordered what he claimed to be an awesome dish. (Noodle Soup with Pork, & Chicken Pad See Ew) Let me start by saying I am no food critic, I just know what tastes good and what doesn't, and this food was so delicious that I want to go back there today for lunch! Im telling ya, it was so good that Im sad to say that I waited this long to eat here! Please if your on the fence call for a reservation and get yourself some of this place, because its an untapped jewel in Bradley Beach! AMAZING is an understatement, if youre in the mood for something different, dont go anywhere else!

Went here for the first time tonight. We have been wanting t to try for so long. Super cute inside but small so it would not be great for larger parties. All of the food was absolutely delicious! Got the pad see ew & pad Thai. Vegetables and all other ingredients were super fresh - you could just tell. I also got the cucumber salad which was amazing!! We went on a Friday night so I was expecting some sort of wait for food/seating but we were seated right away. However, our order was not taken until probably 25-30 minutes after we were seated. And the food probably took another 25-30 minutes to get. Note that you may have to wait a while for your food so it might not be best to go super hungry as they only have one person taking orders for the whole restaurant (at least when we were there). Everything is made from scratch so the food was definitely worth the wait though! We will probably just order takeout when we want it again.

The food is good, but VERY expensive. 1 solo entree and a drink was $27. But that's not the reason why I left 1 star. My issue with the restaurant was my issues while ordering / paying. When I placed the order over the phone the man who took my order was mumbling and I had to keep saying "I'm sorry?" because I couldn't understand him. Then when I went to pick-up my food I had to wait because the front counter was empty. So far it's been annoying, but nothing too bad. Since I was standing around waiting for someone to greet me at the counter I had time to look around and check for a "credit card surcharge" sign. I prefer to use my card, but I always bring cash incase there is a surcharge. When the man finally greeted me at the front counter he again mumbled the entire conversation. I told him my name and he read my supposed order back to me. Just like on the phone, I couldn't understand him so I had to keep saying "I'm sorry?". Eventually I gave up trying to understand him and just said "Yes that's my order" because you can only ask someone to repeat themselves so many times before it gets insanely awkward (and I was fairly confident he was holding my order). I then asked if they charge a credit card fee while holding my credit card in hand. The guy didn't answer me and instead seemed to laugh, took my credit card, charged it, and then handed me my food. I then had to specifically ask for a receipt and that's when I saw the credit card charge. To be clear, I am not against restaurants charging credit card fees. I am VERY against being charged that fee without my knowing, especially when I specifically asked about it. I also did not like that he snatched the credit card...

Wish I could give no stars to this establishment. We went there, a party of 20 people and called ahead for a 7.30pm seating. The table outside was cleaned only at 8.00pm and they asked us all to wait while they cleaned. Then the food, more like had to dig food out of oil. Slow service with such an attitude, then comes the bill, every line reads Dept 10 with a price next to it! Well that right there is a flag for Sales Tax evasion. We asked the lady who sounded like one of the owners for an itemized bill and her response was "Really? After all the headache you gave me?", now she just got us all agitated. What's wrong in asking for an itemized receipt, then she started punching numbers again, realizing slowly that she had the original bill incorrect. Then she threatens to call the cops, and we said she better else we will, sure enough the cops show up, hear our side of the story and immediately say that we are in the clear since we had already settled our entire bill, in full. We did not leave a dime in gratuity since we all had a great tip to give her, "work harder"! Finally came the racist slurs and the cops asked us to leave peacefully, which we did. Little did the owner realize that she too was an immigrant in this country. Really pathetic and racial attitude, not worth even spitting at, forget...

Party of two dining in on a Friday night. The table we were given was wobbly and in the entryway of the restaurant. The servers hovered behind us and bumped into me as I ate. It was definitely the worst table in the house.

The appetizer (Rings - $15 calamari) came out quickly and was tasty. Unfortunately just a few minutes later our entrees came out leaving us no time to enjoy the app.

The restaurant faces west and has large windows. As the sun set it shined directly into our faces for the duration of the meal. There were no shades or curtains to shield us. We were hot and uncomfortable the whole time.

The servers are all very young and inexperienced. No one checked on us until we were nearly done and it was a drive by check in at best. Also, their attire was strange and not appropriate for the venue.

Finally the prices are absurd especially if the experience is going to be as awful as it was. $27 for noodle entrees while holding onto a wobbly table, getting bumped into, squinting into the sunlight, being ignored by awkward servers and feeling rushed just isn't the vibe. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I really can't emphasize enough how unpleasant this dining experience was.

The food IS delicious and that's the only thing this place has going for it although we won't be back to...
