We are somewhat new to the area only being here for three years and with Covid and all, hadn't really had the chance to try out all of the local bars and restaurants. Since I recently retired, we now have much more time on our hands and decided to try a new place every week, but with one caveat, we would only order burgers and beer so we could make the proverbial "apple's-to-apple's" comparison. Now, in no way am I saying that all of the other places in the Ortonville area are bad or have bad food or service, as this just is not the case. But the one thing I did notice is that when I paid my two person bill, all were right at or just a tad over the $40 mark with tip. So at this point it becomes not so much a price point decision, but more of what you get for your money. Bullfrog's has a much nicer atmosphere than any of the other local pubs or burger bars hands down. It is exceptionally clean and has a good sized, friendly waitstaff. There is also plenty of parking. There is outdoor dining for those that wish to sit out on the huge covered deck that overlooks Lake Louis, rain or shine. The burgers are without a doubt some of the best we've had in quite a while, and the fries are absolutely fantastic! To say you get a LOT for your money is an understatement. These burgers are huge! As a side note, we just happened to stop in on a Tuesday and were informed by our waiter that on every Tuesday, they have a half off special which includes one burger, one fry, and one beer for about $8.00, so now we make it a point to hit up Bullfrog's on Tuesdays. I believe we found our new favorite hangout!
*EDIT - Ok, it's been a few years and I feel I need to update this review. The food is still good, but I'm not sure what happened, but the service has gone downhill...a lot. I no longer see any of the waitstaff we were used to, and the ones that do work there now are always standing (or sitting) around at the bar chatting instead of doing their jobs. We sat for 10 minutes and I was ready to leave, but decided to just ask one of the 3-4 standing around if they would get me a beer. Bow it seems that once you do get served, you never see your waitress again. It's just not the same any more and we are looking for another place sadly as we really...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Bullfrogs Bar & Grill, and let me tell you, it was a culinary experience to remember. The food and service were outstanding, and I cannot recommend this place enough.
To kick off the meal, I decided to indulge in their appetizers, specifically the pretzels and beer cheese. The pretzels were soft, warm, and perfectly salted, while the beer cheese was a creamy and flavorful companion that elevated the whole experience. It was an excellent choice to start the meal on a delicious note.
For the main course, I opted for the Stromboli, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. The Stromboli at Bullfrogs Bar & Grill is a true masterpiece. The perfectly baked dough was golden and crispy on the outside, while the inside was filled with a delightful combination of meats, cheeses, and vegetables. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The portion size was generous, making it a satisfying and filling choice.
What impressed me even more was the attention to detail in every aspect of the dish. The ingredients were fresh and of high quality, resulting in a truly delectable Stromboli. The presentation was visually appealing, and the dish arrived piping hot, showcasing the care and dedication put into its preparation.
The service at Bullfrogs Bar & Grill was exemplary. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring that I had everything I needed throughout my dining experience. The overall dining atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, allowing me to thoroughly enjoy my meal.
In conclusion, Bullfrogs Bar & Grill is a hidden gem when it comes to outstanding food and service. Their appetizers, including the pretzels and beer cheese, were a delightful prelude to the main event. The Stromboli itself was a true masterpiece, packed with flavors that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy. The attentive staff and inviting atmosphere make for a wonderful dining experience overall.

Read moreTwo thumbs down Me and the wife came to visit for the first time and I can't imagine we will give them another shot. Food was ok...not bad actually...cook deserves more kudos than the 2 stars reflects. The system is broken and there are red flags galore. Food is being delivered from the kitchen with no traceability to the customer. Deer in headlights look every time a plate comes out of the kitchen...the manager seemed to have the same deer in headlights look and there must be evil spirits so many feet past his home base because I didn't see him take more than 10 steps. The new girl was a go-getter...wished we would be blessed to have her wait on us...instead we got a girl that either was too good for us or was walking from the other side of the building to get to us...she was rarely seen. Sucks for her because we start at 20% and had we been served with half our expexlctatuons probably would have sat there and rang up a bit of a tab drinking and what have you...I watched my 1st requested peice of fish in an all you can eat order get delivered to another table that maybe didn't want it based on the reaction but then again that system being broken the waitress who delivered it only knew someone in the building needed fish in that general vicinity so not her fault...here comes a 2nd peice to...ehem the same guy. He pushed his hand up and tried to object...but was given another order of fish from yet a different server. None of these girls looked up enough to see my hand waiving...about 15 minutes after I asked the go getter waitress where our server was she showed up and asked if I was ready for more fish. The thing is normally you want to complain to the manager and try to work it out....he was 3 ft away and ran from the situation like it was fire. Shame...we sorta liked...
