Kingbird Coffee — Restaurant in Brandon Township

This store does not commit to a theme. When I heard there was a coffee shop opening in Brandon, I had high expectations for what is to come. With a name like Kingbird, I expected the theme to be that of eloquent beauty, as is a bird, but instead it's more of a casino vibe. The place was a little too dry and tough to enjoy a drink inside of. As for the coffee, I only ordered espresso on it's own to get a basis on what it would taste like. It was okay, but quite a bit over-extracted. If you want a recommendation, do not go in for another flowery shop that specializes in caffeine, go for a sophisticated place that understands coffee from its roots. I would recommend people go to Scooters if they want what they serve here, and Coffea or The Source downtown if they want coffee that really knows...

The coffee is good but it doesn't come out as hot as I prefer. The breakfast bagels and sandwiches are good as well but I preferred the donut options. The biggest complaint though is the slow service. It took 17 minutes to get a latte and breakfast sandwich when the place wasn't busy. This it typical of the multiple visits I have had to King Birds.

1 year update. Bumping the overall rating to a 5 star. The quality remains high for food and beverage. It would be nice if donuts were an option but the bagels/sandwiches are really good. I have enjoyed multiple options ranging from sweet to savory. The service is still a bit slow but most of the time it's not an issue. For an easy casual cup of coffee or a sweet delicious latte, this is an awesome shop to go to! Tons of seating in a large open strip mall location with a rustic approachable interior. The staff was all super nice, and their excitement for their work and the business they built was infectious. The owner (I assume he was the owner anyway!) even offered us a taste of a new drink he is creating for their winter menu.
