Good food, great service, bathrooms are a disaster.
My group ordered shrimp & grits, the Southern breakfast, and a blue plate. The shrimp & grits were southern style with a cream sauce and just downright delicious. My pancakes were just right - crispy edges and absorbed the syrup! Something about my grits was off-putting, maybe the cheese in them. Everyone else at my table liked them.
Our server was kind and attentive. On top of refills, pre-bussing, knowledgeable about the menu.
My adult son is disabled. When he went to the bathroom, the toilet began to overflow, before he even flushed. He struggled to get out of the bathroom because it had flooded all the way out into the hallway and his legs aren’t quite steady enough to walk on wet floors. He said he heard water dripping when he was in the stall but didn’t know it was a problem. We waited until the women’s room was free and I stood outside while he went in there. He told me there’s a leak in the handicap stall in the women’s room as well, with water dripping into a bucket. While I was standing outside, a cook was cleaning up the bathroom mess.
Will not be back. This incident was beyond embarrassing for both of us and scary for him, and likely a known problem, given the bucket in the...
Read moreI’ve eaten at both locations of Jo’s and I haven’t had a bad experience at either one. I love the 50s and 60s vibe.
The service is excellent, the food comes out just as you ordered it, the coffee is hot, and the servers pay attention to what the customer is telling them.
I’m a customer who is finicky about what they order. Case in point, I do not like lemon wedges on my water glass, no, not gonna happen. Regardless of my reasoning, this tells me that the server is paying attention to what I’m saying. If it comes with a lemon, their tip is reduced. Next at a breakfast restaurant like Jo’s, if I order crispy bacon, that’s what I want, bacon that stands up and not flop over. If it’s a little burnt, so be it, but if it’s completely burnt, then the cook needs to be reprimanded. And lastly, if I order poached eggs, the white should be done and the yoke runny. Anything else and you didn’t do it right. I’ve had hard boiled poached eggs on a Benedict and that’s not good for the server, the cook and the restaurant.
Any ways, Jo’s hasn’t disappointed, all has been excellent, Jo...
Read moreWe were so excited to have a diner in Brandon. While the food is pretty good, all the wait staff is teenagers. They huddle together talking and don't attend to customers as they should. This needs to be managed better. When you need a drink refill or the check, you have to wait until you can get someone's attention. Also, watch your receipt. We've noticed that we've been charged for a drink when we had water, charged for three vegetables on the blue plate when we only ordered two (and got two) so they aren't paying attention to what they bring you vs. what you received. This has happened 3 out of 4 times we've been. Hopefully management will improve these situations and we will continue to eat at Jo's. Maybe better training. All the kids are nice but it's obvious they need more training in the food industry to watch what they are doing. We will give it a couple more...
