Palm River Cafe & Breakfast All Day — Restaurant in Brandon

Visited this place with some coworkers for lunch.  This is a very popular location at lunch time (closes at 3:30pm) but it does seem like most people get their food to go.  The restaurant is clean and there is lots of seating for big groups too. Many of the Cuban restaurants have limited seating so that was a nice benefit. There doesn't seem like much parking but people park along the side of the pass through street nearby.  As for the food, don't let the menu fool you although it only shows sandwiches you can get a meal with things like roast pork and rice and beans.  They give you plenty of food and the price is cheap. I got a large Cuban sandwich (believe me it's a ton of meat) and a side of rice and beans for $7.50. They used American cheese instead of Swiss and the meat wasn't very warm.  However it tasted good still.  The yellow rice and black beans...

Wow! This cafe was a very pleasant surprise! Try not to judge this book by its cover. The area isn't too hot, but... The food was delicious and our service was friendly. Palm River Cafe serves authentic Cuban food for breakfast and lunch. Plus, they cater, too. The potatoes were well-seasoned. The toast is Cuban bread. The eggs were made to order, and the protein was our choice. The grits were buttery and cheesy, just how we like them. The Cafe Con Leche coffee was so delicious! The prices are a resonable value for the money. Portion sizes are large. My hubby and I were able to share one breakfast, and we were stuffed! Overall, our experience here was very pleasant. This place use to be good when ran by the original owners. Now it's being ran by people who do not care about the customers and are completely rude while serving food. And if you don't know any Spanish they are pissed off to serve you. I have been ordering food for the past ten years from this place and within the past year when the owners took on a new business this place has been ran down. The food no longer has flavor and the workers are mad because they have to work. Unbelievable service I will definitely not recommend until the owners does something...
