I was in the mood to enjoy some bourbon, so I visited The Exclusive Pour right after opening time on a Thursday night and had the place pretty much to myself for a good hour. The bartender was very accommodating, even though I would've liked a little whisky warm-up chat (ex.: "we just got in some bottles of this..." or "what kind of flavors are you in the mood for?"). I ordered a flight of Four Roses Single Barrel, Blade & Bow, E.H. Taylor and Blanton's, all of which were delicious. They were presented to me on a wooden rack that could have been a little less shaky (it easily could've spilled some of that precious nectar) and she placed hand-written cards in front of me to indicate which bourbon was in each glass. I enjoyed my visit here, but I definitely want to come back when there are more customers so I enjoy the full experience. They were clearly expecting some more visitors later in the night because a DJ had just started playing music when I was closing out. I was super impressed with the whisky selection that was available behind the counter and I was able to use their Toast mobile service to review the available selection (which I appreciated because my eyes can't make out the labels behind the bar like they used to). I would suggest they get some fixtures, furnishings and thematic decor for their tables, walls, floor and ceiling so the music doesn't echo so much and the place looks more like a comfortable lounge/cocktail bar and less like a repurposed bingo hall. I loved how they had a chalkboard at the bar that presented both cocktail specials and four different whisky flights. I look forward to trying some more of their impressive selection at...
Read moreI had the WORST experience at this establishment. The owner was very rude. He was literally yelling at his DJ and customers. A customer requested a song and the DJ began to play it. The owner rushed over cursing, telling the DJ to turn it off and not to play anything fast. Our party was rather large, 20+ people, and we got no service. The owner got on the mic literally yelling, “the bar is too backed up, so everyone needs to just go to the bar”. The entire delivery was so rude. They also didn’t have enough seats for everyone, but the owner still felt compelled to yell out, “everyone needs to be in a seat”. This isn’t a school cafeteria. It’s supposed to be an “upscale” bar, but that surely wasn’t the feel. If you’d like everyone seated, please provide enough seating for all patrons.
They knew a party was expected to attend that night and failed to prepare. For a party of 20+ , we should have had our own assigned waitress instead of waiting 20 minutes for drinks. I love to support a good black business, but this one surely fell short. Remember that it is never what you say, it’s how you say it!
Update: please note that the owner did not address any of the above concern in his/her response. First and last time, and I’ll be sure to let others know to...
Read moreOh my God, I told my friend you would definitely have fun. The owner, husband , wife, and daughter is absolutely outstanding. Their hospitality is what you need in your life. They will greet you, come in the door, and you get nothing but smiles from them. I like it that it's an older crowd and no young kids. It helps keep everything in perspective, and like I said, the owner's daughter, oh my God, she is so respectful and so nice and has a wonderful smile. Keep up the work, my friends.
