La Michoacana — Restaurant in Brentwood

I actually like this place a lot, but over the past couple of months I’ve noticed the quality decline a little bit, and was hoping they’d change course.

Every time I’ve ordered a birria burrito (or any birria) from this place, it always arrives without the consommé; truly heartbreaking and kind of a dealbreaker.

Secondly, they stopped serving their delicious caramel sauce with the churros! No it just comes without the dipping sauce.

Thirdly, they started putting chips with their burritos as a tiny side- which is good! Because they put the chips in the same packaging as the burrito though, its gets soggy by the time the food makes it way to you.

I dined here with my family of 6; We ordered the steak quesadilla, steak taco, steak burrito, birria burrito, birria taco, nachos, and chips and salsa. Everything tasted astonishingly fresh with the perfect amount of flavor. The guacamole was A1. The salsas that accompany the tacos were great too. The birria and steak meat were tender to perfection. The most notable experience was the service. The owner, Antonio, really took care of my family and ensured that we had a memorable dining experience. The salmon birria tacos are a must try. The accompanying consomé is rich and flavorful. It tastes like homemade seafood stock with a little cream. They could sell that alone with a little shellfish and be straight. I found the tacos to be small, and the salmon was overcooked which was a bummer. But, I like that you can order everything as singles, and I love that they offer consomé without having to order three daggone tacos!
