I recently wrote a great review about this Salon. I still stand by it. This salon is immaculately organized, and the owner and stylist are amiable. However, their knowledge of hair textures and types is minimal.
I hate to have to give this Salon 1 star, but this MUST be known. I went into Katty’s to get a color. I showed her the pic below, and the stylist, Anna, stated she could and would do it. I trusted Anna because she's always done my wash and sets, and she showed me a video of her bleaching and dying someone's hair (which was a Hispanic woman), which was nice.
I noticed to bleach my hair, Anna did NOT use aluminum foil. Another stylist was trying to give it to her, and she refused to use it. Then Anna asked to record. I gave my consent. I noticed she recorded at first, but during the ending process, she would no longer record.
I had to ask Anna if she could use Toner because I did not like the way the color was yellow and orange tint. But even the tint could not fix the color. Anna then stated she couldn't color my hair because it was not strong, and she didn't want to damage it. Be advised I'm NATURAL; no chemicals are in my hair. My hair was strong and thick before I started coming to Kattys.
When done, Anna tried to ask if I liked it. I did NOT respond. She stated I know you wanted it lighter and I told her I did not want it lighter and showed her the pics again as she tried to accuse me of showing her a pic with light hair.
The owner (at check out) then called my hair pretty, KNOWING IT WAS OVER PROCESSED, and asked if I liked it. Again, I did not answer.
In 2 weeks, I washed my hair, and it all FELL OUT! My hair is completely damaged. I tried calling the salon and asking for Kat, the owner, but she was too busy to talk. I had to go back to my old stylist for her to chop and correct my hair. $250 for them to damage my hair :(
I will never be going back to Kattys again. It's a beautiful CLEAN salon but just Please do not let Anna bleach your hair. Let the OWNER, the only one with a certificate on the wall, bleach or...
Read moreHands down the worst salon experience I’ve ever had. I called ahead for a price on a shampoo, trim, and blowout. Katy quoted me around $65 but kept saying she’d “have to see my hair” to give the real price.
When I arrived, she showed up 15 minutes after my shampoo, and from the start, ignored everything I told her. I stressed multiple times that I only wanted a slight trim—not too short—because my hair is fine and thin. I even physically showed her the length I wanted cut. I asked at least five times what the cost would be; she avoided answering every single time.
She asked if I wanted layers, and I said yes—but long layers, not short ones. I’m not sure if she’s only used to cutting wigs, extensions, or thicker hair, but she went completely scissor-happy. She kept repeating, “You said volume,” as if that justified ignoring my instructions.
The end result: not just shorter hair, but a lopsided, unflattering mess that will take months to grow out. The blowout was average at best, but she had the nerve to charge me $90—25 dollars more than quoted.
This salon doesn’t listen, doesn’t respect clients, and clearly doesn’t care about delivering what’s requested. Save your hair, your money, and your sanity—go...
Read moreI was looking for a same day wash and blow dry and called around to a fee places. The lady who answered the phone said that they do take walk-ins and blowouts start at $55.
When I arrived (a Saturday around 1:15) there was a 5 minute wait then I was in the wash bowl!
The lady who washed my hair was thorough and really took the time to scrub my hair (shampooed three times). She was heavy handed, but I am not tender headed so I didn’t mind at all. She offered a deep conditioning treatment ($10) and a protein treatment ($15) because my hair was very dry. I went with the deep conditioning ($10) and she worked the product in my hair in sections, detangling from tip to root before going in again with product all over and combing from root to tip. I sat under the dryer for about 10mins then went to the wash bowl to rinse a final time.
The stylist sat me in her chair and begin the blowout, which went by really quickly. She trimmed my ends and I was on my way. It was a great experience as a first time client.
My total was $90 (blow out, deep conditioning, and trim) including a $15 tip. I will be returning and recommend if you are looking for a walk-in blowout as a black...
