I have been checking out various food halls throughout the area and miXt was on my list.
It’s such a hidden gem if you want to work and grab a bite to eat surrounded by some cool local art work. It’s got an artistic industrial arcade type of vibe. There’s even a loft area with seating.
Parking was pretty easy for a Friday afternoon. I suspect parking might be a challenge on busy weekends. The garage only had so many spaces available.
Once you park, there is a door that leads to the rear of miXt. As soon as you walk in there’s a cool Alice in Wonderland-inspired photo opp. It gives me some fun ideas for a photo shoot.
In any event, miXt has a lot to take in for a food hall beyond food. It’s really a multisensory experience with sounds, tastes, scents, sights and touch all around.
There’s the Relish Wellness Market, La Michoacana, a nice size bar and lots of local art on display.
There’s even a small arcade area with pinball machines.
It seems like miXt has a pretty robust events and activities calendar. Even though it was on the quiet side this particular Friday during the daytime, I suspect it can be a busy place at times.
I ordered takeout from La Michoacána after walking around for a bit. The local press for their tacos was enticing not to mention the scent. They tasted amazing! I decided on the chicken, shrimp & salmon tacos and added a little ranch...
Read moreI checked out the venue on Thursday evening - the same day as their weekly trivia night, which was definitely a major pull factor!! Who doesn’t love testing their general knowledge, history, and song identification talents every now and again??
The food hall has a good number of vendor options to choose from depending on your mood. There’s west African cuisine, a Mexican restaurant, vegan, charcuterie board stand plus more!! So, safe to say there is something for just about everyone.
Unfortunately as it was later in the evening, a lot of the vendors had either closed up for the day or had limited items left on their menus. It was a rainy evening - so, I decided to go with something spicy to warm me up. I opted for Spice Kitchen’s Suya Platter with shrimp, jollof rice and spinach. My friend had similar, but she ordered plantains and spinach for her sides.
We were super impressed that the food was ready in all of 7 mins!!! And it was quite tasty.
The drinks that we had at miXt Drink were all super yumm! Highlights were definitely the Coconut Cartel & Pricked & Smoked cocktails!!! If you’re a fan of Mezcal - the Pricked & Smoked is definitely a must-try!!!
This would be a great place to go with a group of friends or on your own. The space has a good...
Read moreI partook in a pop-up here that was being held on the upper floor. Sadly, I found that the owner and/or the manager gave NO ATTENTION to the pop-up. It was not promoted in any way. No sign outside letting passersby know to pop in. I have done many pop-ups, and the location has always partook in assisting with promotion. So that got me to thinking, I wonder if that's just not something the facility does... BUT aht aht, they do. I spoke with some of the tenants, and they say they host pop ups here often, and they promote heavy. Well, I can't help but wonder why it was different for our host and event. It was sad and disheartening. But I'll be giving zero props this location and will post on all my social media platforms of my disdain for this location. DONT HOST YOUR EVENT HERE IF YOU ARE BLACK. IT WILL NOT...
