I drive all over TX and eat BBQ almost every weekend in a different town, and this place is now in my top 3 for BBQ. For around $15 I had a 3 meat plate (I got brisket, ribs, and sausage). First off, the BBQ sausage I believe is the best I've ever had. The ribs were cooked just right and had a slight smoke flavor to them, not overpowering the meat at all. The brisket had a great texture, not dry at all (I have had juicier brisket, but no complaints here). Personally, I like a little more seasoning on brisket and ribs, but understand that not everyone does. My sides were beans and potato salad. The potato salad was exactly what I look for, mustard based, not overly sweetened, and just the right amount of chunks. When the man behind the counter asked what sauce I wanted, I asked him if it really needed sauce. He said he would put it in a cup on the side and recommended a mix of the spicy and regular. It was a perfect suggestion. In my opinion, nothing really needed sauce, but the sauce was.dang good and I ended up using it anyways. The pepper sauce on the table was outstanding too. Atmosphere was exactly what I look for in a BBQ joint. Wood outside, not too big, and fitting music playing inside. Every member of the staff that I spoke to was friendly. Tables were clean. Bathrooms were clean. And to top it all of, a member of the staff came by regularly checking on me and offering fresh rolls. I will be back next time.I am...
Read moreWe do takeout often from Raymond's BBQ. They are your standard cafeteria style BBQ restaurant serving brisket, sausage, turkey, pulled pork and ribs. They have several standard fare sides to choose from as well. We usually bring home smoked turkey / chopped brisket (make our own sanwiches at home), BBQ stew, and banana pudding. Their sauces (reg, sweet, and spicy) are pretty good, but I'm not as big of a fan of their other sides. Pinto beans are decent, the baked beans have far too much onion for my own taste, and their cole slaw is more savory of which I'm not a fan. These are my personal tastes, so you need to try them to figure out what you like and don't like. The folks working there are nice and it seems to be family owned and operated. I personally don't like to dine in...it's not a big place and between the noises of the kitchen and the music playing on the TV I don't find the atmosphere to be relaxing...too many competing sounds while trying to have a conversation. Again, that's just my preference tho. But we have found what works for us at Raymond's and plan to be loyal customers for...
Read moreIf you're looking to eat rolls for dinner, this is the place. The BBQ is definitely not worth the stop. We ordered a family pack, to go. We live about 20 min away, and after getting home and opening everything, we discovered that our sides were not the sides we ordered. I have 4 kids, and was not about to load them all back up and spend about 40 minutes driving, just to get sides. So I called to inform them of their mistake and I was literally laughed at by the manager, Pam! I asked to have the meal replaced at a different time bc the meat was the only thing any of us would eat and why would I get sides at another time, with no meat? If you spend money on a meal, you want it all fresh. She snickered and told me that they would NOT replace the meal and that if I wanted to come back right then, they would give me the right sides, but that's all they were willing to do. The food is just not worth the time or money! Keep driving to Hard Eight BBQ...
