It was a party of four. My daughter and her husband took myself and my husband (WE WERE ON VACATION FROM COLORADO) to your establishment YESTERDAYS. The Mr. and I have traveled extensively on a low budget. Eating at restaurant's from Colorado to New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, Ohio, Missouri, Kansas, California and Texas. I like to try "New Things " on a menu I havent had before. Yet there are limitations. Nothing HOT like Jalapenos, nothing to spicy. So , in Texas there is ALOT of peppers, yes? Peppers are the big thing now a days. So I started on a quest of THE BEST PHILLY CHEESE STEAK EVER. And on this journey I have eaten PLENTY of my share of PCSS. Also I had never eaten a jalapeno with cream cheese. In addition, I have never written a review of ANY RESTAURANT before. So all three are a first for me. YESTERDAYS DINER, has CHANGED MY LIFE! I don't believe I will EVER EAT A PHILLY CHEESE STEAK SANDWICH ever again. EXCEPT, (drum roll please) at YESTERDAYS establishment. I honestly have NEVER EVER had PCSS, as GOOD as I had at YESTERDAYS. Not only that... I had a jalapeno with cream cheese. It was Delicious! I am looking forward to our next trip to Texas because I know (God willing), I will be there ready to order my very favorite PHILLY-etc... The service was great, all the employee's we had contact with were helpful, happy and kind!!! P.s., All places I have ordered a PCSS from never listed this delicious sandwich with pepper jack cheese. I always have to order it special. But not at YESTERDAYS!!! Plus the amount of meat, bell pepper, onion and cheese on that roll was perfect as well. To be honest I didnt want to share even a tiny bite with my husband.(But I did sacrifice a small taste) So, in closing, (finally, right?) On behalf of my husband and myself, we would like to thank you for making our trip so much more enjoyable. Love, Honor and Courage, Mr. and Mrs. Kenny and Claire...
Read moreMy monkey was attending church camp so we drove 2 hours to drop him off. On the way there, I saw this place and the old time memorabilia caught my eye. A few days later we picked him up and he was out of the movie Nel he was speechless, burnt, and full of bug bites but THAT appetite was still there. We stopped at the restaurant and sure enough this 80s kid went Back to The Future. The servers were dressed in 50s motif and very friendly. You are totally consumed by the posters, black and white TV's, life size statues of Marlyn & Elvis. Monkey aka Nel ordered chicken strips, Mother of mokey Raspberry chicken our little rhino had kids portion chicken strips and my big belly saw the all you can eat catfish so as Betty Boop said boobo bidup CATFISH it is for me. Our server was nice and efficient with providing us with information from the menu. The portions size are awesome and worth the price. The chicken strips were huge not your regular processed size with easy breading. The Raspberry chicken was delicious according to monkeys mom. The catfish had no flavor but with pickled jalapeños and tartar sauce it made it tasty. It was all you could eat and bringing the portions took time (insert the look Lurch gives in the Adams Family) We had room for something sweet so we shared a warm apple pie and brownie Sunday which were scrumptious. The apple pie is made in-house in a warm skillet. We drove back 2 hours satisfied and Nel fell asleep in the car on the way home. If you are in the area and you are looking for good eats and nostalgia in mind Yesterday is for you. The cost...
Read moreI have to think that ownership or management must have changed hands, because there is no way this business has lasted for decades with the service they provide. I didn't actually get around to trying the food, if I'm honest. The hostesses were not only incompetent but condescending. One of them didn't know how to seat me despite the diner being all but empty, and the other employee insisted on taking my phone number as though she was putting me on a wait list. When I told her I don't give out personal information to strangers (I receive enough spam calls, thank you) she replied with an unprofessional amount of sarcasm, "Are you sure? Because that's kind of how we seat you." This is either a new trend in the restaurant business that I was not aware of, or someone has chosen to implement a new system designed more for takeout than in-house dining, which I find ironic considering this is, well, a diner. Regardless, it's a poor choice for a location catering to clientele with a taste for the old-fashioned.
I decided that a burger and fries wasn't worth it, as I had read no reviews speaking of their exceptional cuisine. That said, I'll give the first hostess the benefit of the doubt; she may have been new, or their system was. The decor was also fun, if overwhelming, but I don't recommend relying on interior design to keep doors open if food and customer service are not equally high quality.
Perhaps if you focus more on your flavors and less on your new technology, you'll be able to last another...
