First,  they were out of the wine listed on menu that i was looking forward too. I know, no deal breaker. But when she brought the substitute she didn't tell me what it was or let me try a v small taste, she just poured it in the glass. Then she forgot to bring some of us our drinks.  We had already waited an exceptionally long time to begin with.

When my lobster bisque came it was so thick,  you could eat it with a fork, plus barely warm.

Then, it took forever for our dinners and when they arrived....

The food had sat at the pass so long it was luke warm.

One persons fish was cold and virtually raw. IT TOOK ALMOST 15 MINUTES FOR HER TO GET IT AND

WHEN SHE DID, IT WAS THE SAME PIECE OF FISH .

Two of us ordered rib-eye , medium rare and 2 ordered rib-eye,medium well. All steaks were medium rare and barely warm. One of those was sent back and came back virtually the same. Oh, and my husbands boss ordered the surf and turf, but only got the turf.

They forgot his lobster !

Ordering another round of drinks took forever and trust me, by now we needed them badly.

We were all throughly disgusted at this point and ask for the manager. What should have been a Christmas celebration costing over $100 per person turned into sheer misery. Our waitress was almost in tears. When the owner finally appeared, he ended up comping 2 dinners that went uneaten and acted like he was doing us a favor.

But was this over yet ?

NO, this continued on through dessert !

Two people ordered the Pistachio gelato on the menu.

Guess what ? You got it, they didn’t have that either.

My husband and I were completely embarrassed,  since we were the ones who recommended boss into having the company's  Christmas party / my husbands retirement dinner there. It could not have been more disastrous.  We felt like we were being pranked on a TV show.  Let me just say that we have been to the Wooden Angel many times in the past and have had several celebrations there and have...

The Wooden Angel/Nickle is a great place for family gatherings or just to enjoy some homemade cooking.

Definitely out of the way close to Beaver, PA, once you find this place you'll continue to go back. The restaurant itself is well made, but a bit dark inside. Our most recent visit was a Sunday afternoon, and with the curtains and blinds drawn, you couldn't really tell what it was like outside.

The menu isn't very expansive, bit there's a good selection of sandwiches and burgers that come standard. The real treat, though, are the daily specials. This most recent trip it was stuffed peppers, stuffed turkey, or stuffed pork chops. Our table tried one of each, and they were fantastic. If you think back to your mom or grandma making these meals at home, then you have a good idea of what they taste like. The food was hot, fresh, and a pretty decent amount for the price.

Desserts include some standard ice cream and pies. I tried the cherry crunch pie (think Dutch apple, but cherries), and it was good. Nothing to write home about, but good. Compared to supper, the slice of pie was smaller than I expected.

The service was pleasant, if not the fastest I've ever seen. The place did a brisk business too while we were there, and can seem a bit crowded at times.

Overall, a really good experience, and I'll definitely be going back. 4.5/5 stars, but since Google won't let me do a half star,...

Moved to the area and wanted to try out this restaurant. The positives are the ambiance is nice in there. The staff are friendly and there was an older gentleman playing the piano all evening which was very nice. The restaurant is older, at times though it did feel a bit dated vs intentional/well kept. The booth seats are a bit too low to the ground compared to the chairs. The food took close to 30mins to come out (even just the salad). The restaurant wasnt that busy. The courses in general were slow, so wonder if they have limited amount of chefs. We got the scallops to start which were fine, nothing to write home about. For mains we got the filet mignon. Both meals came with a purple flower which I thought was a bit odd. The vegetables that accompanied the steak just didn’t seem appropriate or from the correct season. The mash tasted like smash (out of a packet). After tax etc the filet is over $60. Honestly for that price we were quite disappointed. We both order medium rare one came out that way the other was more medium/well done. When we both order the same thing its very easy to compare. The garlic bread was good and the salad was fine.

All in all just a bit overpriced for the quality of the food. If they could just put a bit more care into the building and improve the food this would have been a place we’d have liked to...

Good food.i believe that the silverware and the plates should not be put out the previous night, this is unsanitary and unhealthy.with COVID being so rampant it is not a wise thing to do.theres several bins of dirty dishes in them with food on them and little bugs flying around them, people that work in the kitchen cough near the food and they don't wear gloves when they handle the food.numerous bins of dirty dishes with food on them sit there for days on end, little nats flying around them, numerous coffee cups go through the dishwasher and come out with lipstick on the cups.numerous bins of dirty dishes will sit there for a day while little black bugs fly around, who knows where they might end up at,this is in the kitchen.
