After about two years of being faithful customers, the experience we had last week convinced us not to go back. We were seated at a table, where the waitress took our drink order after we were sitting about 5 minutes. We looked over the menu and decided what we wanted (5 minutes or so). We looked around for our waitress and she was chatting and laughing with a party in one of the corner booths, completely ignoring us. We tried to get her attention but to no avail. After 15 minutes went by we got up to leave. She ran over, telling us that she was about to come over to "take our order." We left anyway, vowing never to return. Other things we have noticed over the past year or so. They handle money, then sit down and start folding silverware into paper napkins when they are not busy. The hostess is always waiting on customers, taking money, making change and then sitting down again to resume folding silverware into paper napkins. They should be instructed to wash their hands first before touching silverware and napkins that customers will have in their mouths! Also, could the cooks please serve some other vegetable besides that watery veggie mixture they serve with every meal? It is disgusting and not even edible. When they first opened they had a variety of veggies, some days it would be corn, other days green beans and so on. Now it's that inedible mixture of soggy, limp carrots, cauliflower and heaven only knows what else! The quality of the food has also suffered; I had a broiled chicken off the senior menu that looked more like a small bird, covered in a gross yellow gravy. I'm sad that they have obviously let the quality of the food deteriorate as well as the service. The owner is there at times and has never visited the tables or talked with customers that I have ever seen. We used to love the place, but no more. It's gone downhill...
Read moreUpdating my review from 2 years ago. We drove out to Bristol 45 Diner for breakfast and some different scenery, and were very disappointed with the food we received. I ordered Chopped Steak-Med Rare, Eggs scrambled well done. Eggs were fine, but Chopped Steak was well done. I could tell just by looking-at all the char that it wasn’t as I ordered. My boyfriend ordered an omelette with American fries, and while the omelette was good, the potatoes were so burnt and blackened, they were crunchy and inedible. He managed to pick out maybe 1/3 of the potatoes that were edible, the rest were left in the plate. Not only should those plates NOT been put up by kitchen staff, but the server should have questioned both IMMEDIATELY. Almost 10 minutes after we started to eat what was edible, she finally stopped by to ask how everything was, so we told her overcooked, overdone, burned. She took $5 off our bill. We’ve been here several times in the past, when it was packed to the max with people waiting and have never had such poor food. I doubt we will be back after this experience. Certainly not worth the 35min drive.
We visited Bristol 45 Diner for breakfast because of Restaurant week. Super fast service, and very friendly staff! We both had biscuits & gravy with eggs and choice of 2 bacon & 2 sausage links, or 4 of either. 2 words to start - HUGE PORTIONS!
The sausage gravy was made with sausage links instead of patties or sausage crumbles, so not the best we've ever had, but certainly not the worst either. Egg and bacon were cooked perfectly, but my sausage links were slightly pink in the middle so that put me off a bit. Definitely will try again...
Read moreWe absolutely love the diner. We live nearby and often walk over. Keep track of school events at Bristol Elementary though because the diner is jammed afterward whenever there's an event at the school. The servers vary from particularly friendly and interactive with my daughter (who they've seen off and on for years and ask me about when I don't bring her in with me) to politely efficient and both work. I've tried quite a few items on the menu and most of them are like home cooked meals. I love the soup specials and soup, but they've recently stopped having taco soup on Wednesdays, which was our favorite and we didn't know until the last time we visited. The taco soup is amazing. I tend to get sandwhiches, especially hot sandwhiches, here most frequently and I usually don't like sandwhiches. The parking lot gets full quickly, but the fullness if the parking lot is a good indication for how noisy it'll end up being inside, as it's one big open space with booths and tables available. If you have a larger party, tables can be pushed together. Various events are hosted at or near the diner throughout the summer, but I've only explored the car show that's held monthly on the Municipal building lawn next to the diner's parking lot. It's also a great place to stop in for ice cream, a...
