This would have been amusing at the time if I hadn't been in such dire need of a bacon egg and cheese, but instead it's only amusing in hindsight.
Allow me to describe the scene -- it would have been right at home in a sketch comedy show.

My wife and I walk in, 5 employees behind the counter, no one in line.
We amble through the stanchion maze to place our order.
30 seconds elapse, no one acknowledges us. A minute, and nary a glance in our direction.
We sidle on up to the register and gaze expectantly at the various employees. I begin to sympathize with the invisible and wonder is it solipsistic in here or just me?
Another 30 seconds of discourteous snubbing before the bro manning the register deigns to greet us. Hark! A breakfast sandwich is nigh!
"Hi good morning, we'll have..."
"Oh, yea, you gotta place your order with them gestures vaguely at the crowd of largely unoccupied employees not four feet distant and then you pay up here" after which he turns on his heels and resumes ignoring us.
...
We walked out instead.
All jokes aside, I'm completely baffled by the experience. The food is reasonably good but unfortunately, I will not be returning.
Chalk it up to my weird predilection for being acknowledged within the first 3 minutes of standing at a service counter when there are 5 employees not an arms-reach away talking...
Read moreI recently visited the Bagel Shop, and unfortunately, it was an incredibly disappointing experience. While their bagels themselves were decent, the customer service completely ruined the visit.
From the moment I walked in, the staff seemed disinterested and unwelcoming. The cashier barely acknowledged my presence, not even a smile or a greeting. When I asked a simple question about the menu, I was met with a curt response and an eye-roll. There was no sense of warmth or hospitality at all, which made the entire experience feel cold and uncomfortable.
As I waited for my order, I couldn't help but notice how the employees were chatting amongst themselves, ignoring customers who were waiting patiently. It felt like they couldn’t be bothered to engage with anyone. When my bagel finally arrived, it was handed to me with no apology or acknowledgment of the long wait.
I understand that every place has its off days, but this level of indifference is unacceptable in a customer-facing business. I won’t be returning. It's a shame because the bagels had potential, but bad service is a...
Read moreI drive 30 minutes to grab my bagels from this place. They know bagels, and they know their customers.
If you're after a true NY style bagel, this is it. I've had an affair with their blueberry bagel (BB) for over 6 years now. Most seem to go for the everything bagel (which is an icon in its own right) but there's something about that green BB that keeps you coming back: Thin skin, semi-crispy on the outside & soft -but not doughy- on the inside, and it smells like happiness during early childhood !
Personal recommendation: Get a fresh, warm BB. Cut it up, spread some good quality butter on both sides & sprinkle a speck of powdered sugar. Pair it with their dark roast. If you're late & land a colder BB, go with either strawberry jelly or -wait for it- the chunky version of Lotus spread and thin banana slices. Don't pair that with coffee- go with Irish Black tea or a hot chocolate.
And if you want to understand how good their cream cheese is, open a pack & drizzle some honey and chopped...
