Bill & Ruth's Subs and Salads — Restaurant in Broken Arrow

I never do food reviews but this place has disappointed me too many times. I eventually forget and come back every 6 months or so and then I remember why I said I would never eat there again. The service is great, the employees are friendly and fast but sadly the food is very disappointing.

I can't speak for everything on the menu, but the two items that I have had there first the Italian sub, I have had it many times and today I decided to try the Philly Cheese Steak. The problem with their subs is they build them like a taco, just slicing the bread vertically and stacking everything on top with the veggies on top which leads to lettuce spilling out everywhere and every other bite being only meat or only veggies.

Secondly and this applies to both sandwiches is for some crazy reason their default cheese for what seems to be everything is just shredded mozzarella or maybe cheddar cheese. It's hard to tell which it is but either way it doesn't go on a sub, it's the first thing they put on the Italian and it creates this blob of cheese that you taste first when you bite into the sandwich. I have no idea why they don't use deli slices. Also the pepperoni is just a few slices of pizza topping pepperoni, not deli slices, most of the sandwich had no pepperoni at all and there wasn't much meat to speak of it was mostly just lettuce and cheese.

The worst part of all was the Philly Cheesesteak. I was expecting it to be like most where provolone or whiz is melted into the meat but no they just threw the same shredded pizza cheese right on top after putting it together cold as ice. And there wasn't even very much just a light sprinkling of cheese sitting on top of the sandwich. Have they never seen a Philly Cheesesteak? I can't understand how they think this is anywhere close to what one should be. Also asked for grilled onions and they were barely translucent they certainly don't bother caramelizing them at all.

Overall I just can't recommend these two items and that is disappointing because they are what places like this should have mastered but both are very mediocre. I'll try again sometime in the future but I don't expect anything to change. For some reason places always have these blind spots where basic things they just get wrong in weird ways. The food was good but not too sure why they have a drive through. When i pulled up some older lady in glasses was rude and told me " you door dash people have to come inside from now on I dont get why you come through the drive". Not sure why she opened with that when I didnt order through door dash nor do I work for them. I ordered only through seamless which is where google directed me when I clicked on "order online". To me it was like she was mad I ordered online, and then came through drive through. She then stormed off and did not allow me to make a comment nor explain to try work things out. Nor did she explain to me what she meant or why she said what she did. I was very angry with being treated that way because she then continued loudly talking inside. The young man working the window just kinda said sheesh and smiled and then said hi how can I help you. I have wondered if I should try this place and felt disrespected and that the management or whoever she was was extremely rude. This was my first visit to this place. I will not go back.

Outside of the rudeness of the woman, Food portions were great I had the gyro and my friend had the small spaghetti with meatballs. We were worried about the small spaghetti but it was way more than we thought. Decent price for the amout of food. All food was fresh.

A shame there is a bad taste in my mouth from the way I was treated. Would have been understandable had she explained why the rudeness or even apologized or at minimum stood there to allow me to speak as if i was not beneath her. But instead she went inside and continued complaining loudly. I drive a loud van so I could not catch what all she was saying. Looks like 5 years ago I did a review on this place and it wasn't that good of a review. We all have a bad day at work or we have bad help I should take that in consideration before doing a review. With that being said I've been coming to this place for about 20 years. I pass several sub shops to get to this place I will choose this over Firehouse Jimmy John's Subway. Their portion size is what keeps me coming back they load it on, they build it up, they top it to the max!!! They are not skimpy!!! I have gone to other Bill and Ruth's and I prefer this one over the other ones I have been too. This one offers a variety of foods, not just subs and salads. I have posted a picture of a burger I've gotten salad subs gyros and the other day I got a baked potato they told me they have seven varieties of the baked potato I just went with the good old fashioned sour cream chives bacon and cheese not only one cheese but two different cheeses not only was this my lunch but it was also my dinner this thing is huge if you have never had a potato from here and you're wanting a baked potato this is the place to go to.
