The coffee is hot (if that’s your thing, hot coffee hurts my feelings), the staff is friendly, and the food reminds me of the diners that I grew up seeing in movies. I only get to stop by for breakfast every couple of months or so, but it’s always met my expectations.

I was helped out by “Boss” and by Liz this morning (with Liz being a standout due to her kind attitude, fantastic nails, and exceptional service.) Because I sat at the bar, I had a front row seat to some of the kitchen dynamics that i would describe best as familial dysfunction. I found it quite endearing. In particular there was a moment when, in the midst of some disarray at the pass, someone asked, “What’d you ask for or what do you need?” To which the response was, “Not you.” Followed by, “Not you, got it. Okay, Boss.” It made me chuckle because it’s the kind of exchange that reminded me of how interactions are in a busy kitchen during my own family gatherings. Again, endearing. 😏

My wife and our son went to this place to try and eat a sunday late lunch. We went in we got seated right away at booth. We got a booth that didnt have a window so we asked if we could move to a window because our son likes to look outside the window at the traffic of cars that goes by. We looked at the menu. We were there long enough to know exactly what service we were going to get. We never got acknowledged by anyone until 15 mins til closing which is at 3pm. We didnt get offered a drinks or to start an appetizer. Nothing. We wouldve understood if they were horribly busy but they were not. They were all gathered at the bar. By the time we were acknowledged i decided i was ready to leave and at that moment the person who acknowledged us had the audacity to catch a attitude. Its not the customers responsibility to seat themself where a waiter is eager to make money. So, we will never...

Food was meh. I had a "blueberry" waffle that was just smeared with blueberry pie filling which was cold. Wife's food was cold as well. Our son had pancakes which he enjoyed and they were actually hot.

But the kicker is service is TERRIBLE. I literally have never had worse service in my life. The waitress came to take our order and never came back for anything until she brought our food. We were out of all of our drinks. No apology, no nothing.

The lady who I assume is the manager is a just a B. We waited for 5 minutes to pay as she finished writing her "special" on the sign by the door. She just ignored us until she finally got done. There were several other workers in the back who saw us and never offered to help. They just stood there. I finally said something and she had a terrible attitude.

This is our second time trying it and the service was equally bad both times.

Will...

Breakfast, lunch and dinner: eggs, waffles, burgers, chicken fried everything, salads, etc. etc. Add bargain $7.99 dinner meal specials after 3 pm and you have Oneta Station Diner. Clean, plenty of parking, fast friendly small-town service. Cheese Burgers for my wife and I, with a big pile of crispy coated fries. The burgers are flame broiled beef patties, stacked with the necessary L,T,P,O & M, snuggled between fresh burger buns. Possibly the best burger on Highway 51, between BA and Coweta. A solid little diner. For a real bargain try $7.99 dinner specials.

The space was a little busy but the food came out fresh and hot. The kids got eggs and French toast and they loved it. I got chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was really good. The wife got chicken strips and sid they were okay. We will go back as it is really close to the house. Would recommend trying it at least once.
