Well, I would have liked to try Luke's, but the reception we received was so rude we decided to leave without ordering. I wanted to order dinner for six people, so a good-sized order, but every time I called, the phone rang and rang. No answer, no voicemail.
I figured since they don't have a website, we should just go in person. So, I got my walker out, but I had to enter on the butcher side because the restaurant side was blocked and not handicapped accessible.
We walked in, and a frowsy-looking woman was banging away on the cash register, clearly put out by the work in front of her. She frantically told us she would be with us as soon as she was done with whatever she was doing. I just quietly mentioned that I had tried to call a couple of times, but no one answered the phone. She snapped at me and began complaining about how busy she had been all day. Not to be outdone, I piped up to say I had been calling since yesterday, so she bit my head off again. We started to feel unwelcome, so we left. She said nothing, just keep slamming away on her cash register.
I get she was probably overwhelmed, but I am not the appropriate target for her frustration. And I was annoyed, too, having to haul myself to their brick & mortar because they can't answer the phone! Get yourselves together!
If you aren't going to have a website and online ordering or not have voicemail or answer your phone, how do you get to be nasty to me for wanting to patronize your business? Well, you just lost my business for sure with that crabby piece of work at the counter. Maybe, if you are so overwhelmed, it's time to hire a sweet-faced person who understands quality customer service.
RESPONSE TO OWNER: Your Facebook page is not listed on Google. Also, I do not use Facebook, nor do I consider that a website. I am not interested in what the Lord has done for you, but if you are unable to receive customers in a gracious fashion, you don't deserve them. If you are making money hand over first and you don't hire enough staff, you are greedy. Hire more people if you are so swamped. Frankly, what you just described was one employee doing the work of two or three people! I guess I'd be hateful, too, if you ran me to...
Read moreMy review is substantially in the minority, but it reflects my experience. I don't recall when I have had more excitement generated b4 trying out a new place. I was actually eating at another BBQ place in Tulsa, my personal favorite, and another customer started saying how fantastic Luke's was. I looked up the reviews and for the number of aggregate scores generated by several rating sources, their 4.9 average is unheard of. So with great anticipation, my wife and I drove to the B.A./Coweta area and placed our order. Had to wait until a Wednesday. Very small dining area and heavy foot traffic, so be prepared. The visual aspect of the super-moist meats going by only only served to heighten my anticipation. We finally received our food and barely squeezed into a corner, ready to enjoy. I must admit, my first impression was good. The meats were all really moist and not fatty. However, as the meal continued, my wife said to just eat some of the meats w/o being masked by the flavor of the sauce. Once I did that, I was shocked. She was absolutely right. The meat wasn't smoky, it didn't have any natural or rubbed-in flavor at all. It was just the texture of meat with no positive attributes of BBQ. Same for brisket, ribs and chicken alike--no real flavor despite not being dry. So, ultimately, once you disengage from the excitement of the moment, a real disappointment. We can't justify returning and getting in the way of the majority who...
Read moreI've been wanting to try Luke's for a while but they're always sold out of what we want or are closed when we think to get it. Anyway today was the day and it did not disappoint! I've had the brisket before at a recent Friendsgiving so I knew how good it was. We ordered the "Hog Trough" which is a TON of meat along with 3 sides and all the fixings! Bologna, Pulled Pork, Sliced Brisket, Sliced Chicken, Beef Ribs, Andouille Sausage, Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage, and a Hot Link. I'm not a fan of ribs but these were pretty decent 6/10. Bologna was good 7/10. Brisket was excellent 9/10, Pulled Pork 9/10, and the sausage all 8/10. For the sides the beans were pretty basic and little overly sweet 5/10, the Mac & Cheese was creamy and delicious 8/10, and the Cole Slaw was WOWOW 10/10 there was something different in it that made it both sweet and savory. Best slaw I've ever had! The spicy BBQ sauce had a great heat level and was sweet as well so I loved it 9/10! For $69 this was a fantastic value. Enough food to feed the 4 of us twice! We'll be seeing...
