Moon Star Chinese Kitchen — Restaurant in Brookfield

New to the area and happy there is a great chinese take out restaurant nearby. Not many places serve Mongolian Beef which is currently my go to meal when I order take out.

Other items I have had were also quite good.

I must add though that the signage could be better. It is located in an obscure mini mall that is easily missed. The store itself is not brightly lit and therefore may not seem too inviting to the casual passerby which is unfortunate because they are pretty good. Thankfully the mini-mall's parking lot was repaved recently. It was pretty run down when I first found it. The restaurant is clean and tidy though but is strictly take out as there are only 3 small tables if you choose to eat in.

I once showed up minutes before closing on a sleepy and perhaps slow weeknight. I saw the staff cleaning the kitchen as they were preparing to close. They took my order though and cooked me a delicious dinner even though they were ready to leave. I really appreciated that! The cashiers have always been friendly and the pricing is what you would expect so the value for me is very high as judged by my formula of price to quality...

I recently moved to Brookfield and needed to get dinner. We were in the mood for Chinese so I did a search for places that were close to us. Moon Star is located on Federal Road and conveniently a few minutes away from me. Plenty of parking in the lot. I called for a pick up order and it was ready in the 10 minutes as promised. The woman who took the order was very courteous and pleasant. She was just as nice when I picked up the food.

The food was good. We got beef and broccoli, General Tso chicken, and chicken lo mein. The beef with broccoli was very good, as was the side of fried rice. The General Tso was also good, however it needed a little more spice. I do like how they cut the chicken pieces smaller as compared to other places. Made it easier to eat and it did not have an excess of breading. The chicken lo mein was OK. I didn’t have much because I do not like how lo mein is loaded with all of the vegetables. One of the meals came with an eggroll and doughnut. The eggroll was delicious. The donut was just OK. I will definitely return to try sone...

We have been going there for years , I am from Brookfield. I live in Danbury now and come to get it when I am in the mood for Chinese food. The past few time it’s been not so good with flavor and over cooked boneless ribs that the dogs could not even eat and the chicken was well over done… Today brought it even lower . I ordered honey Shrimp (flavorless didn’t eat it because it was just soaked with no flavor and breading ) ordered also the fried Dumplings which was BURNT and the garlic chicken …. There were two 4” long Black hairs as an added surprise in this dish. The ribs that were supposed to be boneless were bon-in but they were actually the only thing we did eat and was very good .I am done , not going to wasted money anymore I never spend less then $50 and I would rather not waste...
