Destination Wedding

I met Celia through Roland at Namar Event Center in South Padre Island. Celia scheduled me with a taste test dinner run when I visited from Chicago, at that time I knew I had to have her cater my wedding. My now husband and I then returned on another short visit and had a cake & frosting taste test along with Mexican cookie platters....delicious!!!! Catering by Celia and Chickies made our wedding day so great. Food was excellent, table settings were beautiful. My husband must of had some wedding anxiety and said Celia's fideo fixed him!!! ALL of our guests loved all the food prepared by Gourmet Central...they loved the appetizers, fideo, cilantro dressings, chips and salsa, enchiladas!!! And our wedding cake was the BEST wedding cake ever!!!!

We also had Celia and Chickies do some cookies as a gift to our guests...and WOW...they are amazing!!!

Celia and her team were there every step of the way making sure everything went as planned.

Looked nice inside and the food looked nice too. Taste-wise, it was mediocre. I thought I could have made a less-prettier version of the same meal that was more satisfying. And a lot cheaper. I was more disturbed by the lack of cleanliness I saw behind the scenes when I went to the bathroom. I expected more from a place like this. I expected better service too. I don't mind coming back, but on my list of go-to places in town, this place...

Noticed they had some vegan options so got some food to go.. got 2 orders of the vegan lasagna. The lasagna itself was great, but the headscratcher was the sides that came with the dish. The salad had cheese in it. Pretty sure the fideo had some sort of chicken flavoring. And the dessert was chocoflan. All the sides had some sort of animal byproduct in it. Not a great look when one is looking for...
