I love this place so much! This is a regular spot for my fiancé's family and there is no question as to why. This place has been around for a long while and has this hole in the wall charm. The tortillas are so fresh and bigger than your plate! The staff is so friendly and sweet, it feels as though you are in mom's kitchen. I ordered the Machacado plate the last time I was here and it is the Best Machacado I've ever had! The meat is so tender and everything is seasoned perfectly. I'm not sure what they do to their refried beans, but they are seriously the best around as well. When we went, it was New Years Eve in the AM and we waited a bit longer than usual as it was rather busy. We didn't complain one bit as the atmosphere is so warm and relaxing, but to our surprise, our waitress gave us 2 buenulos that were hot, fresh, and oh so delicious for free! It smelled really weird. I'm guessing this place has a lot of regulars and it seems that if you aren't one of them, you dont get the best customer service. Got brought my tab and she hadn't even come to see if I needed anything else, WHICH I DID (wasnt even done with my own food) and when I asked for the extra plates, she didn't seem too happy about it. Once the extra plates were brought to me, she asked "are the people almost here?" As if she was rushing me out of the restaurant. This quaint Mexican food restaurant simply has the best food and prices in town. Their food is always fresh and delicious. Their flour tortillas and their menudo are also the very best in Brownsville. Claudia and her staff are always welcoming, prompt, attentive, and courteous.
