Initially went to this place with my son when he was little. He's 28 now. I wasn't impressed in an Era of ChiChi's. Later, my bestie would boast of their greatness so I finally caved. Found myself boasting to others too. Recently, I met my bestie there for dinner on her visit back from California. Her flight arrived late with delays so she was starving. Let's just get the food opinions out there first. The food was really good and I can honestly say that they have the best charro beans ever. The drinks, well the sweet, minty Mojito was flat, had rotten mint leaves in both of our drinks, not an ounce of sweet and not even sure there was any alcohol in them. We fished all of the mint leaves out of our drinks since they were all rotten, tried to move past that but then had a screaming toddler coming over the back our booth, screaming in my friends ear, because he wasn't sitting with mommy! The waiter is talking to this large group, obviously knows them, encouraging them to be even louder. When he finally came back to our table, we said something about the rotten mint leaves. He picked them up off the table and walked away. Didn't apologize, didn't take them away, offer new or even take them off the bill. When went to say something up front when asked how everything was, we attempted to mention the loud, overwhelming atmosphere, rotten mint, rude waiter but as my friend was telling them all this, he started to...
Read moreStopped in tonight with the family. Overall a good experience. The staff was attentive and welcoming. It was obvious there were some local high school dances because there were a lot of big tables with dressed up teenagers. Even with that, the wait for a seat and the food was normal for a Saturday. Thumbs up for that.
Food wise, it was 4/5.
The salsa was phenomenal. Probably the best one I've had locally and if you see my reviews, you'll see we love trying out Mexican restaurants, so that's a massive plus. I'd gladly come back just to buy the salsa and chips (which you can do).
Now my entree, it was okay and that's where the 4 stars come from. I had the carnitas dinner and the carnitas were bland. I expected more flavor from the meat but it wasn't there as of the pork hadn't been seasoned correctly. Also, there was a massive chunk of fat that wasn't removed before serving and was an unappealing visual on the plate.
The onions were also bland and unlike the onions on a fajita platter which add a nice smoky layer of flavor to the meal, these were just there.
The rest of the table enjoyed their meals so this is a nice addition to the "If out and about around the area" restaurant list I keep in...
Read moreWe tested the limits of Cozumel after our family gathered to bid farewell to my wonderful Brother. There were approximately 30 of us (we called ahead, days in advance, to make sure they could accommodate our large group), and the staff was truly helpful and willing to handle multiple checks and the varied tastes of kids (chicken tenders and French fries) and adults who desired special drinks and a wide variety of menu items. Considering how many of us were present, and the individual tastes of so many people, the service was very good, the food was hot and freshly prepared, and although we were in mourning for someone we deeply loved, we found comfort in the pleasant experience of eating together at Cozumel. Although I live in another state, when I return to Brunswick, I will definitely seek out Cozumel. They did an awesome job of feeding a large number of people, and I heard not a single complaint. Thanks to the kind staff for helping us at this difficult time in our lives. I highly...
