I went to Ebenezers a year or so ago and saw the Bar G Wranglers show. It was thoroughly entertaining, and although the food wasn’t exactly Michelin star worthy, I thought the evening was a bargain for $30.
I went again this weekend, and did not have a similar experience. I was greeted at the door by a rude hostess who somehow found it difficult to check her reservation sheet for my name among the six other reservations made that evening.
The roasted chicken was swimming in some sort of juice. I assume (hope) it was chicken juice. But it made what should be a crispy skin quite squishy and unappetizing. The steak a couple of us ordered seemed to be made of beef. I didn’t taste it but they said it was passable, although not priced appropriately at $40. The best thing to eat at Ebenezers is probably the pulled pork, it would be real hard to mess that up, and they don’t. As others have noted in other reviews the ice cubes are indeed cold. So there’s that.
Expect to pay quadruple the price one should pay for beer, they sell 8 oz drafts for $6. They’ll tell you it’s against the law to serve bigger drinks. It’s not. This was the most infuriating part of my experience there. If they would just say “we make more money by selling smaller drinks at higher prices,” I would respect them a lot more. Don’t train your staff to lie to customers.
The band was kind of fun when they played older country songs, but the newer stuff, especially the singer’s own songs about “putting his little cowboy in a city girl” weren’t the vibe we were seeking...
Read moreI attended a conference at Ruby's Inn. While the Inn, the hotel rooms, and the General Store were all perfectly adequate, our events were held at Ebenezer's Barn and Grill, and that's the topic of this review. I don't know what the per-person meal rate was because we bought it through the conference. The food was delicious, and the service was quick. However, the seats were hard as rocks and I had to limit the amount of time I spent sitting in them. To add insult to injury, the closing night of our banquet was supposed to be dedicated to the giving of awards and a speaker's presentation. However, I couldn't stay until the end and missed the awards. Part of the reason was the miserable seating. The other reason, though, was that we were subjected against our will to a one-hour performance of Country-Western music. I understand that this was a contractual obligation, but I was fuming when I left. Not only is it almost my least favorite genre of music, but I missed the presentation of awards - the part of the night that would have meant the most to me. I was not the only person who left during the "entertainment." There were many. I suggest you move the main business of such a conference banquet to immediately after dinner, then let those who actually appreciate Country-Western music stay to the end...
Read moreWe attended the dinner show at Ebenezer’s Barn & Grill. The music by the Wranglers was entertaining and the food buffet was good. We each had the baked chicken (it was not BBQ’d) and pulled pork with coleslaw, baked beans, mashed potatoes, roll, and cake. Those who chose the steak were sorry because it was overcooked and dry. Those who chose the salmon said it was good. The soda drinks were self-serve and there was a bar to buy alcoholic drinks. However, the seating was a nightmare! Guests are seated at tables of 8 and the tables are crammed together so tight that once everyone is seated it is impossible in many cases to get out of your seat to get your drinks or go to the restroom! The dining hall has crammed so many tables in so close together that it made the whole experience unpleasant! Worse yet was that the staff then comes around to clear the tables during the show. When they reach tables that they too cannot get around or through, they expect the guest to stand up and move so they can get through with their tub of dirty dishes—during the show! It was unbelievable! We could not wait to get...
