Best part about it was using a coupon for one free entree and meeting Mr Chinn in petson. He is very personable and nice. I had called before leaving work to see if they accept Entertainment coupon. Man on phone had slight language barrier but i know it's not uncommon for an Asian restaurant. I I was told yes and asked for his name. I always do that. He said Mr. Chinn. I'm like ya right.
Sure enough actual owner was gentleman on phone. He was very receptive, nice, polite and had sense of humor. I have not met too many owners of a restaurant doing all of that.
Food was ok a tiny bit sweet on general tsaos. Also ordered teriyaki chicken and was not expecting sliced zucchini squash. But it was actually was good.
This was my 2nd time there for take out. First time didntd impress me, thought restaurant was extremely dirty and rude order taker and size entrees were small for price.
That was a year ago, this time was a bit cleaner and entree sizes seemed bigger. It tadted pretty good and talking to Mr. Chinn was fun.
Took off 2 stars as I think the place could use a good cleaning and prices seem high. I pass this place half way coming home. Decided to order spur of momentm long day at work and sleeting outside. It did cheer upumy hard work week.
My favorite go to carryout carry out restaurant in AH area is China 11 on Algonquin in RM. Best beef and peapod ever! Lunch special price is excellent and pop price. Best carryout in Lake County is by CLC on route 45 called China Chef. They have awesome prices and good food. Best house special fried rice anywhere. Big pieces of shrimp. Best general tsaos carryout, Hong Kong monday night special low price. Best homemade orange sauce...
Read moreReviewing it as a seafood place.
Chinn's Seafood could use some heavy improvement. Entering in, you can tell it's a hole in the wall. There's seating but it's only if you're waiting for the meal. I had the 1lb seafood order of flounder and mussels, each with a different sauce. They both came with maybe one quartered potato and two quarters of corn - there's a heavy portion of seafood which is always exciting to see, but it's quite unfortunate when the food falls short from a lack of seasoning in the food itself rather than its sauce.
I wish the mussels were cooked a little longer. That would have helped pull that extra mound of meat off easier. The sauces themselves were not finger licking good either. The garlic butter sauce was weaker than Papa John's included butter sauce, if that shows anything. Some parts of the dishes were seasoned well, others not as much. For today's spice level, I had mild and medium, both of which felt the same. I guess I'll try spicy next time.
Like the mussels, the flounder was about what you can expect. It felt like the fish wasn't seasoned before breading, and the expectation is that you dip the fish into the seasoned sauce to enjoy. It was strange to not see the flounder in other parts of the Chinese entrees in there as well.
The broccoli was a nice touch, but it all comes down to cutting the quality of the dish by prioritizing speed. Upsetting.
Edit: Also, don't bother getting their coupon from the website. You can guarantee yourself a stale set of dry, sketchy technically edible wings that were pulled out of the fridge and reheated for...
Read moreI've been a loyal customer of Chinn's for the last two years. Mr Chinn was always very funny, jovial, and cooked good Chinese food. We order in at work from Chinn's once a month, usually ordering for 3-4 people. I even placed a large order for a staff meeting prior to the start of summer. As most places are accommodating to special requests, I typically make the same order, with the same simple modifications--nothing crazy. (ie: steam veggies, sauce on side, no broccoli, etc)
I called today to place an order, and wanted to try the pan fried noodles. I asked which veggies come with the pan friend noodles, and was told by Mr. Chinn that he was too busy to take my order, and promptly hung up on me. In shock and disbelief, I called back to confirm what had just happened. I asked if he did not want me as a customer anymore, and prefer that I order Chinese food elsewhere. He told me yes, go elsewhere, and once again, hung up on me.
So, if it applies to me, perhaps it applies to you too... Mr Chinn is too busy to take orders - take your business elsewhere - he...
