Entered cautiously as a Lions fan on a Sunday an hour before game time. The place buzzing with friendly folks, a conversation immediately at hand with a Bills man at the bar.

Felt completely at home on our stools at the high top. Left awhile then returned in the fourth quarter to the smell of Sunday dinner, my heart involuntarily overrun with feelings of being in my mother's house. Random folks directed us to the free sausage and onion dish awaiting and bathing in a chafing dish in the back.
Near the end of the game the bartendress appeared with tokens as the owner was buying the bar a round to celebrate a Bill's touchdown which I received with some guilt but, hey, when in Rome. . .
Reluctant to leave, on our way out they said heartfelt good-byes and urged many returns. . . I nearly wept on the way to my car - partly because the Lions had lost but mostly because I'd lost my heart at Barry's...
