I am leaving this review in hopes that the owner reads it carefully. I really want them to succeed so please pay attention to my critique. We west africans in the Buffalo area are very happy that you opened this restaurant. It is a gateway to introducing our west african cuisine to Buffalo. This is why you must strive for excellence. I have ordered food from here several times and one of your biggest issue is consistency. The food is not always consistent in the taste. This was excusable when you newly opened. But after operating for over a year now, you should have perfected your recipes so that whatever you cook is always the same. For example...one time I ordered the goat meat peppersoup. It was very delicious. The next time i ordered it, i did not enjoy it as much because the crayfish added was too overpowering. One time the fried rice was cooked very well, but another time the fried rice was very soft and mushy. I have noticed this with different dishes across the menu. Whoever the cooks are, have them perfect the quantities of ingredients added so the recipe is always the same. Your rice, stew, chicken, fish, anything you cook should always taste the same at anytime or anyday of the week. Consistency is key. My second critique is the hotness/spicy level of the food. If you have ever visited an indian restaurant, you will know they also eat spicy food too. However, the indian restaurants owners know that not all who visit their restaurant will be able to handle the heat, so they offer mild, medium or hot for all their curries. I have recommended Buffalo Suya to my oyinbo friends to come and eat here and they all complained the food was too spicy, therefore they didn't enjoy the experience and have no plans to return there again. If you want to be able to have a diverse range of customers, you should offer a mild option for those who cannot handle pepper. You don't even have to have 3 levels like the indian restaurant. Just 2 options (mild and spicy) is enough sef. This should be offered for the soups and stews and i dare say even the pepper soup because one time i ordered the tilapia pepper soup and it was even too spicy for me a yoruba girl. I don't leave this comment with malice but with pure intentions. I am rooting for you guys and really hope to see some improvement. One last thing...sometimes the music is too loud. Having backgroud music is nice but when it is so loud that your customers have to yell to hear each other talk...then it becomes...
Read moreTheir rice is very soft it never used to be this soft and terrible customer service. I order their rice stew and on doordash it says rice and stew with sause and no meat but on their end it shows just plain rice then you have to decide if you want the stew or anything else you want, I didn't know that because it said sauce with no meat the last i ordered it few years ago I didn't have to tell them to put stew and I guess they changed it now you have to ask for it, I kept on telling them that on doordash it doesn't say you need to ask for stew but it say Instructions like if you want meat or something else with the rice and stew I kept on telling them it's not showing plain rice and that you need to ask for stew ,I told them that they need to call doordash and tell to fix it so someone else won't make the same mistake like me the Lady on the phone was so rude that on her end it shows just plain rice and kept on telling her it's not the same for me instead of her to apologize for the confusion she kept on been rude giving me attitude saying I'm the only one that it happened and I'm like does mistake like not first start with one person and I'm that one person but she didn't care just been rude on the phone ,I'm never ordering from them even though I'm Nigerian I'm very disappointed in how she handled the situation, even though Nigerians can be rude you not be rude to your customers....
Read moreThe service was okay. Even though the two servers were friendly, it seems they also were new because they got my order wrong and they didn't bring the silverware. We had to ask for it twice. I ordered party jollof rice with tipalia fish (dine-in) and turkey pepper soup (to go). The waiting time was a little longer (45 minutes) than usual because the server got my order wrong. I wanted my fish with a head, and she brought it in with no head. They had to redo my order. When it finally arrived, the fish was so good, but I was not pleased with the rice. I am honestly disappointed with the flavor and texture. It wasn't spicy and rich tomato sauce flavored.
I reminded them about my to-go order, and that's when they informed me that they didn't have turkey pepper soup. They didn't let me know when I put in the order, and I had to change my order to goat pepper soup instead. Fortunately, the goat was tendered and spicy.
I usually took pictures, but I was so...
