This was a wonderful stop for us while visiting an area in South Central Idaho with few breakfast options. We were looking for a good breakfast place and decided to give this one a try as there were not a lot of options. The food was simple but wholesome and delicious. The vanilla syrup and brown sugar syrup were outstanding on French toast and the Belgium waffle. The sausages and bacon were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The Denver omelet was very filling, especially since I got the large version (3 eggs instead of 2).
The service was delightful. Very pleasant young ladies who were kind, attentive, and very helpful served us.
The location doesn't stand out, but the interior is so cute. Metal strainers have been incorporated as light hoods and really adds to the ambiance. There is a cute little gift shop on the side as well as games and craft items along the walls in the main dining area. The leather goods are really ornate.
I highly recommend this location for breakfast. We were so thrilled after our first experience we went back the next...
Read moreIn the 8 years I've lived in Buhl I have have never had a problem with this restaurant until today. We walked in and it was pretty busy (rightfully so the food is amazing) anyways one of the younger girls asked us how many of us there were and I said six. She said we would have to wait for a table to open. Which was fine. We stood there for a good 10-15 minutes and then I noticed there were two 4 tops open so I asked another girl if we could just possibly put 2 chairs at each end. She was extremely rude and said yeah you could honestly I don't care what you do and she just walked away. We didn't know where we could get two chairs so we just stood in the entryway. No one tried to help us they just walked by us like we weren't there. So we went somewhere else. The ladies working today really need trained on customer service because it was very poor today and the one gal was extremely rude. Disappointed in Old Home Cooking today and not sure we...
Read moreExcellent find!! Great breakfast and friendly service. I had biscuits & gravy with sausage patties. The biscuit was fluffy, buttery goodness, covered in sausage gravy that was perfect. Just the right ratio of gravy to meat. My fiancé had the Belgian waffle with eggs. The waffle was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. It came with 3 kinds of syrup; old fashioned maple, homemade butter syrup and homemade brown sugar syrup. So delicious I could have drank the syrup straight out of the bottle. If you're in the area and looking for some grub, stop here. Attached to the restaurant is a very quaint craft store with loads of great finds, from hand sewn quilts to classic...
