Cafe Lotti is a Quintessential Vermonter hippy cafe located in the bucolic town of East Burke. The quaint cafe itself is built into an expcetionally charming Methodist church built in the 1838 which has been repurposed along the way. This latest reprise as a cafe is a total success and fit for purpose. Defined by large and intact 8 foot sash widows which flood the honey dew walled cafe with natural sunlight, and add a cheery and elegant athmosphere to this casual comfortable cafe. The food is based on high quality ingredients most of which seems locally sourced.
I ordered the Maria sandwich which is a take on the classic caprese on ciabatta except with the addition of Prosciutto. It was delicious and the fresh basil hit the right note on combining the flavors together. I also demolished a buttery chocolate cookie, which despite grabbing it from the day old basket still tasted just as delicious.
This cafe feels more like community hub, a place for locals to gather and chat. To relax and catch up. It was great to see the small selection of locally made honeys, maples and other...
Read moreEspresso was excellent. Menu wasn't the most clear, ordered the mountain biker (two meats, two eggs) and didn't say anything about it being a sandwich. Had the choice of waiting for one to be made or one sitting in the warming box.
I get it, it's probably a local made bagel, and local farm eggs, and local meats but wasn't really worth the $11 imo. Bagel was dry and tough (likely because it had been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile, meats were good, egg was overcooked and dried out, but it screamed "hey tourists, come pay $11 for a mediocre sandwich". It wasn't a sandwich that you get and say "wow" but instead of "meh".
My girlfriend got a ham and egg. The egg was the same and over cooked, bagel was nicer than mine (made to order), the ham was great.
If you get breakfast sandwich, get it made to order unless you want to take a chance on it being tough and a let down.
I'd absolutely come back for the coffee though. Excellent espresso and cold brew. but I wouldn't waste my money on the food personally. There are far better value/food...
Read moreSo glad we decided to have lunch at Lotti’s today. We had one of the best ever Italian subs with a baguette that was perfectly chewing and soft at the same time, super fresh and flavorful meats, crispy lettuce, and even the slices of pickles seemed extra tasty! We also shared a homemade quiche and blueberry scone, both of which were clearly made with expertise, pride and care. The team members radiated kindness and joy. The amazing food, coffee and atmosphere (with tables, couches, music, locally-made jarred goodies and art) truly makes this place a must-visit treasure in the North East Kingdom of Vermont. Huge thanks to the Owners Linda and Johnny and all of the amazing...
